Powerhouse Innovations Inc. is a technology-first company, built for the mass market electricity consumers to switch directly to a retail electricity supplier (RES) and access cheaper generation rates.
Through our platform, we enable all end-users to become eligible even if they do not meet the existing threshold (currently at 100kW, or equivalent to a ₱350,000 monthly bill) and simplify the switching process. We are part of the AboitizPower group, the Philippines’ largest energy producer based on installed capacity, through its wholly-owned corporate venture studio, 1882 Energy Ventures Incorporated.
THE ROLE
Powerhouse is moving from a founding team to an operating company. The Human Resources Manager builds the People function that makes that possible: payroll, benefits, compliance, hiring, and the everyday systems a growing team runs on. This is a build role before it is a steady-state role — most of what you will eventually manage does not exist yet, and for a period you will both design the system and run it yourself.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Stand up payroll and benefits. Select and implement the payroll system, then run the monthly cycle end to end: computation, statutory contributions to SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG and BIR, thirteenth month, and final pay. Design and administer the benefits package, including HMO and leave.
- Own compliance. Employment contracts, DOLE requirements, 201 files, statutory registrations and remittances, and the labour-standards side of how we operate. Keep us clean and audit-ready without being asked.
- Run hiring. Own recruitment end to end across every function: intake with the hiring manager, sourcing, screening, interview structure, offer, and close. You are the reason strong candidates do not go cold.
- Build onboarding. Design and run onboarding so a new hire is contributing in their first week rather than their first month.
- Set up performance and compensation frameworks. Salary structure and benchmarking, goal-setting, review cycles, and promotion criteria — proportionate to our size, not borrowed wholesale from a large corporate.
- Operate the People layer. HRIS selection and administration, policy, employee relations, engagement, and the daily questions a team of this size generates.
- Interface with the group. Act as our single point of contact for shareholder and group HR stakeholders, meeting reporting and governance requirements without importing a large-company operating model.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
In your first 12 months
- Payroll and statutory compliance running on time and error-free, on a system rather than a spreadsheet.
- Time-to-hire and offer-acceptance rates tracked, reported, and improving.
- A complete documented employee lifecycle from contract through onboarding, review, and exit.
- A benefits package live and competitive for the talent we are targeting.
- Leadership making headcount decisions from data you produce rather than from instinct.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 5+ years in HR generalist, People Operations, or HR business partner roles, with hands-on ownership of payroll and benefits administration.
- Working command of Philippine labour law and statutory requirements, sufficient to handle routine matters without external counsel.
- Demonstrated recruiting ability across functions, including technical and commercial roles.
- Experience implementing an HRIS or payroll system from selection through go-live.
- Comfortable being both the strategist and the person who processes the payroll run — there is no team beneath you yet.
- High discretion and sound judgement with sensitive information.
Advantageous
- Experience in a company that scaled past thirty to fifty people.
- Exposure to both a large corporate and an early-stage environment, and a clear view on what to take from each.
- Familiarity with sales incentive and commission structures.
