Role Overview
The HR Generalist is responsible for driving and strengthening Pleco's people practices across attendance management, compliance, employee engagement, performance management, onboarding, and policy governance. This role goes beyond traditional HR administration and serves as a proactive business partner, identifying workforce trends, recommending improvements, and helping build a scalable and structured HR function that supports Pleco's continued growth as a BPO and offshore staffing provider.
The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of Philippine employment regulations and BPO workforce dynamics while fostering a positive employee experience and ensuring operational excellence.
Responsibilities
HR Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with Philippine labor laws, statutory requirements, and employment regulations.
- Maintain employment records and ensure documentation complies with legal and organizational standards.
- Provide guidance to management on labor compliance and employee relations matters.
- Stay updated on legislative changes and recommend policy adjustments as required.
- Employee Relations, Retention & Workforce Management
- Support managers in addressing employee concerns and workplace issues.
- Facilitate investigations, counselling sessions, and disciplinary processes when required.
- Monitor attrition trends and recommend retention initiatives.
- Develop strategies to enhance employee satisfaction and reduce turnover.
- Foster positive employee relations and contribute to a healthy workplace culture.
Documentation & Administration
- Prepare, maintain, and issue HR-related documents and correspondence, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and proper record-keeping. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Notice of Change in Terms and Conditions of Employment
- Successful Probation Letters
- Employment Contracts
- Job Offer Letters
- Employment Details Letters
- Probationary Extension Letters
- Notices of Termination
- Return Service Agreements
- Certificates of Employment
- Prepare and maintain HR reports, employee records, and other HR administrative documentation as required to support business operations, compliance, and decisionmaking.
- Ensure all HR templates, forms, and employee documentation are regularly reviewed, updated, and aligned with company policies, employment legislation, and business requirements.
Timekeeping & Attendance Management
- Own and manage the end-to-end timekeeping and attendance function.
- Monitor attendance, punctuality, absenteeism, and work patterns across the organization.
- Identify trends and flag potential concerns before they escalation into client or performance issues.
- Recommend and implement tools, systems, or process improvements to improve attendance visibility and reporting.
- Maintain accurate attendance records and supporting documentation for disciplinary and performance management purposes.
- Prepare and distribute attendance reports, including overtime, paid leave, unpaid leave, and other attendance-related data, to the Accounting and Operations teams to support accurate payroll processing.

- Review bi-monthly payroll computation reports to verify that salary adjustments, reimbursements, allowances, deductions, and other employee-related updates have been accurately reflected.
- Coordinate with Operations and Accounting regarding employee lifecycle activities, including new hires, performance management reviews, salary adjustments, promotions, transfers, and employee separations.
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of workforce, compensation, and benchmarking reports to support operational and strategic decision-making.
- Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timely communication of employee attendance and payroll-related information across relevant stakeholders.
Employee Engagement & Employer Branding
- Develop and implement employee engagement initiatives that improve the overall employee experience.
- Drive programs that strengthen organizational culture and employee connection.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to enhance Pleco's employer brand.
- Support initiatives that position Pleco as an employer of choice within the market.
- Measure engagement outcomes and recommend continuous improvements.
Onboarding & Employee Lifecycle Management
- Own and continuously improve the employee onboarding experience.
- Ensure all onboarding activities are delivered efficiently and consistently.
- Identify opportunities to streamline onboarding processes and documentation.
- Support employees throughout the employment lifecycle, from hire through separation.
- Maintain a positive and professional employee experience at each stage.
Performance Management
- Coordinate and administer probationary reviews and confirmation processes.
- Facilitate regular performance discussions and performance review cycles.
- Support managers in implementing Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs).
- Provide coaching and guidance to leaders on performance-related matters.
- Promote a culture of accountability, feedback, and continuous improvement.
Policy Development & Process Documentation
- Develop, maintain, and update HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks.
- Document and standardise HR processes and SOPs.
- Ensure policies remain compliant, practical, and aligned with business needs.
- Promote consistency in the application of HR practices across the organisation.
- Recommend process improvements to support scalability and operational efficiency.
HR Analytics & Continuous Improvement
- Analyse HR metrics and workforce data to identify emerging trends.
- Prepare reports relating to attendance, attrition, engagement, and performance.
- Proactively identify risks and recommend practical solutions.
- Drive initiatives that strengthen HR capability and operational effectiveness.
- Contribute to building a mature, data-driven People function.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of progressive HR experience, preferably within the BPO, offshore staffing, or professional services environment.
- Strong knowledge of Philippine labour laws, statutory requirements, and HR compliance.
- Demonstrated experience in employee relations, performance management, and policy implementation.
- Experience managing attendance and timekeeping processes and systems.
- Exposure to both traditional employment arrangements and contractor engagement models is highly desirable.
- Experience implementing or improving HR systems and processes is an advantage.
