Role Summary

Opella is a global leader in consumer healthcare, with trusted over-the-counter, vitamins, supplements and personal care brands. The Commercial Head leads the Philippines commercial organization and shares ownership of the delivery of the country P&L with the country Leadership Team. The role sets and executes the customer and channel strategy across pharmacy chains, modern trade and distributor-led general trade, builds strategic partnerships with the market's most important customers, and translates the business plan into disciplined in-market execution. As a core member of the Philippines Leadership Team, the Commercial Head plays a central role in setting the country strategy and is accountable for converting it into an executable plan that ultimately leads to profitable, sustainable growth.

Main Responsibilities
Sales Leadership & Business Delivery

Direct the activities of the sales organisation to achieve short- and long-term business objectives, profitable growth and strong market execution. Establish and coordinate sales objectives, policies, operating rhythms and programs within the country plan. Lead the development and deployment of sales and channel strategies that generate growth and integrate marketing, finance, supply and Zone priorities. Deliver agreed sales, revenue and profit targets through disciplined commercial management, strong customer partnerships and high-performing execution. Lead regular sales and business performance reviews, ensuring clear ownership and timely corrective actions.

Customer strategy and strategic relationships

Develop and own the 3-year strategic commercial plan for priority national chains, regional pharmacy groups and distributors, aligned to category and brand priorities. Be the senior relationship owner for strategic customers, leading joint business planning, annual trading-terms negotiations and executive-level top-to-top engagement. Identify and close share-gap and coverage opportunities by customer, channel and category, while defending leadership positions against competitors. Shape the route-to-market and distributor model: partner selection, coverage, service levels and performance management.

Budget, Customer P&L & Channel P&L Management

Prepare and manage sales budgets, forecasts and commercial reports, ensuring accurate and timely visibility for Local Leadership Team. Own channel P&L and customer P&L performance, including clear plans to improve revenue quality and profitability. Provide ongoing sales forecasts and commercial insights to support business decisions, revenue optimisation and performance management. Ensure trade and operational investments are managed within approved budgets and deliver appropriate commercial return. Provide recommendations on customer and channel investment while final investment decisions remain with the Country Head.

Revenue Growth Management & Commercial Excellence

Embed Revenue Growth Management into channel and customer plans, working closely with Finance, Trade & Revenue and Performance Analytics. Co-lead with Commercial Operations Lead to strengthen Commercial Excellence capabilities, including sales force effectiveness, route-to-market improvement, commercial analytics and capability building. Define, communicate and track execution priorities, including distribution, must-stock lists, account standards, promotional compliance and in-store execution. Drive forecasting quality, sales productivity and continuous improvement across the commercial organisation. Contribute clear commercial insight to Integrated Commercial Planning, Joint Business Planning and Sales & Operations Planning forums.

Commercial plan execution

Translate brand and category plans into customer and channel execution: listings, distribution, visibility, shelf, pharmacist recommendation and in-store activation. Lead the trade marketing and shopper agenda, including channel-specific activation calendars and post-evaluation of trade investment. Establish a clear performance rhythm (KPIs, business reviews, sell-in and sell-out tracking) and act quickly on variances. Partner with Marketing, Medical, Regulatory and Supply Chain to launch innovation and ensure on-shelf availability.

eCommerce & Omnichannel Integration

Partner closely with the eCommerce team to align on channel strategies, customer priorities and commercial plans. Ensure the Sales organisation is fully aligned and integrated with B2B eCommerce, reflecting its strategic importance in Vietnam. Identify cross-channel opportunities and address potential conflicts through transparent governance and joint planning.

Relationship Management & Cross-functional Leadership

Build strong relationships across functions. Align sales execution with the broader country strategy and growth agenda shaped by the Country Head in collaboration with the Zone. Provide clear, concise commercial communication and contribute meaningful insight to country leadership discussions.

Business Ethics, Compliance, Quality & Safety

Create a culture of excellence, accountability and integrity, ensuring commercial activities comply with legal, ethical and company standards, policies and procedures. Lead by example in values-driven decision-making and professional conduct across customer and internal interactions. Promote safe systems of work, provide appropriate information and supervision, and comply with local and corporate health, safety and environmental requirements. Report and address non-conformance, unsafe conditions and significant incidents in accordance with company requirements.

People Leadership & Development

Provide strong leadership to the sales organisation, creating clarity, confidence, accountability and high performance. Lead, motivate, empower and guide teams through change and complexity. Attract, retain, develop and inspire talent while building a collaborative Opella culture. Develop succession and talent plans that strengthen future commercial leadership and business continuity. Coach individuals through clear direction, ongoing feedback, development opportunities and appropriate support. Build commercial capability in negotiation, customer planning, category management and data-driven selling. Contribute to country strategy, investment decisions and culture as an active member of the Leadership Team.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS

Internal: Country Head and Philippines Leadership Team; Marketing; Finance; Supply Chain; Medical and Regulatory; HR; Zone commercial, RGM and customer development teams. External: Senior leaders at national pharmacy chains, modern trade retailers, regional pharmacy groups and distributor partners; industry bodies as required.

MEASURES OF SUCCESS

Return on trade investment and gross-to-net efficiency. Delivery of 3-year strategic customer plan milestones and annual joint business plan commitments. Customer satisfaction and service levels; team engagement, retention and capability progression.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

12+ years in FMCG, consumer health or pharmaceutical commercial roles in the Philippines, including at least 5 years leading multi-channel sales teams. Proven P&L or major revenue accountability, with a track record of profitable growth. Deep experience with Philippine pharmacy chains, modern trade and distributor-led general trade; established relationships with key customers. Strong command of revenue growth management, trade investment, joint business planning and customer negotiation. Bachelor’s degree in business, Commerce, Marketing or related field; MBA or equivalent preferred.

LEADERSHIP CAPABILITIES

Strategic and commercial: connects market insight, customer economics and brand strategy into clear choices. Results-driven: sets high standards, owns outcomes and acts decisively on performance gaps. Influential partner: builds trust with senior customers and cross-functional peers; negotiates firmly and fairly. People leader: develops talent, leads through change and builds an inclusive, high-accountability culture. Analytical: uses sell-out, share and profitability data to target investment and resources.
