Job summary

HAL in the Philippines invites applications for the role of Assistant Stateroom Steward - UPL. You will support the Housekeeping team in providing guest stateroom service aboard the ship.

The position is a fixed term contract based in the Philippines and requires at least 2 years in stateroom service, ability to lift 40 lbs, and strong teamwork. You will participate in morning service and evening turndown, assist with luggage and amenities, and help train junior staff.

Qualifications

• High School Education
• Minimum 2 years of experience as Stateroom Steward or equivalent in hospitality
• Preferred 1 year of shipboard experience as Stateroom Attendant or equivalent
• Must be physically able to lift at least 40 lbs

• Basic knowledge of public health and sanitation protocols for staterooms

Responsibilities

• Maintain corridors and steward stations per HAL standards.
• Provide on-the-job training to Assistant Stateroom Steward.
• Handle safety, lost luggage, and other checklists.
• Comply with House Rules, Safety, and Environmental guidelines.
• Follow health & safety instructions and environmental compliance.
• Promote usage of Navigator App and develop competency to assist guests with it.
• Maintain professionalism, attendance, punctuality, and personal appearance.
• Perform other housekeeping duties as assigned by management.

Description

Provides guest stateroom service as a shared responsibility with the Assistant Stateroom Steward.

Key Responsibilities

1. In charge of the Housekeeping team assigned to provide guest stateroom service.
2. Clean and supply all assigned staterooms, in accordance with Housekeeping procedures and standards, by following Perfect Stateroom Set-up and other training guidelines.
3. Provide morning guest stateroom service and applicable evening turndown service, in a timely manner.
4. Maintain cleanliness of guest staterooms, and balconies as applicable.
5. Distribute guest amenities such as ice, fruits, tote bags, chocolates, parcels, flowers, gifts, paperwork, shore-ex tickets etc., as required.
6. Provide each embarking guest with a stateroom orientation, introduce their teammate and provide name card at introduction.
7. Report any safety or maintenance concerns, damaged, defective or missing items via IVR or to immediate supervisor.
8. Handle the delivery of all necessary laundry / dry cleaning / pressing services as required and shoeshine service as requested.
9. Interact with guests and handle all requests or complaints in a timely manner.
10. Help the Assistant Stateroom Steward to distribute embarking guest luggage in a timely manner, handling with care and being mindful to avoid damage to corridor walls or other structures.
11. Help the Assistant Stateroom Steward to maintain corridors, steward station/locker, ice machine, pantry and other areas within assigned section, in accordance with HAL standards.
12. Interact with co-workers in positive and professional manner.
13. Provide on-the-job training to Assistant Stateroom Steward in all Housekeeping standards and regulations.
14. Administer all required paperwork for assigned section (safety, lost luggage and other checklists).
15. Comply with all House Rules, Safety Regulations, and Environmental Guidelines.
16. Comply with all public health regulations, instructions and standards.
17. Maintain positive, effective, and respectful working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, managers and officers within and across department boundaries.
18. Adhere to ship’s relevant health & safety procedures as required
19. Comply with company policy regarding waste separation and environmental compliance.
20. Actively promote the use of the company’s proprietary Navigator App and responsible for acquiring the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively assist guests with the workings of the App.
21. Uphold and display high standards of professionalism, integrity, honesty, attendance, punctuality, and personal appearance.
22. Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Housekeeping management team.

Desired Skills & Experience

1. High School Education

3. Preferred 1 years of shipboard experience as Stateroom Attendant or equivalent function.
4. Needs to be physically able to carry at least 40 lbs.

7. Basic Knowledge of public health and sanitation protocols related to staterooms.
