Job summary

Manpower (Philippines) is seeking a skilled FTTX Design Engineer to join our network team. The role focuses on planning and designing fibre networks, producing HLDs and LLDs, and validating field conditions during site surveys.

You will use AutoCAD and related tools to create accurate designs, prepare BOMs and optical budgets, and collaborate with project teams to ensure timely delivery across the Philippines. Travel to survey and construction sites is required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of FTTX planning and design experience.
• FTTX site survey experience.
• Ability to produce High Level and Low Level Designs.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and related design tools.

Job description

• Bachelor’s degree in related discipline.
• 2+ years of experience in any FTTX planning and design (high & low-level designs)
• FTTX site survey experience.
• Able to consistently create good quality High Level Designs, given an area and applicable design rules.
• Able to create Low Level Designs to a high degree of quality and accuracy, including splicing diagrams, Bill of Materials and optical budget calculations.
• Able to quickly learn and proficiently use new software and tools required to perform design tasks.
• Proficient in the use of AutoCAD software.
• Availability to travel to from CommScope office to survey and construction site locations in other areas of the Philippines.

Technical / Functional Skills

• Perform FTTX network planning activities and develop High Level Designs (HLD) and Low Level Designs (LLD) in accordance with project requirements, standards, and design guidelines.
• Conduct site surveys and assessments to gather information required for network design and validate field conditions.
• Review survey data and promptly resolve design-related issues identified by site surveyors, construction teams, or project stakeholders.
• Produce detailed fibre network designs, drawings, route plans, splicing diagrams, and network schematics using AutoCAD and other design tools.
• Prepare and maintain design documentation, including survey packs, High Level Designs, Low Level Designs, optical budget calculations, and Bills of Materials (BOM).
• Ensure all network designs are accurate, buildable, cost-effective, and compliant with customer specifications and industry standards.
• Perform optical loss calculations and network capacity assessments to ensure network performance and serviceability requirements are achieved.
• Liaise with project managers, survey teams, construction teams, and other stakeholders to support project delivery and resolve design-related queries.
• Review and update designs based on field feedback, changing site conditions, and project requirements.
• Support design validation activities and provide technical guidance during planning, construction, and implementation phases.
• Maintain accurate records of design revisions, project documentation, and network data.
• Continuously identify opportunities to improve design quality, efficiency, and consistency across the project.
• Ensure all deliverables are completed within agreed timelines while maintaining a high degree of quality and accuracy.
• Travel to project, survey, and construction sites across the Philippines as required to support design verification and project delivery activities.
• Quickly learn and effectively utilize new software, systems, and tools required to support FTTX planning and design activities.
