Job description

The Survey and Design Engineer is responsible for conducting site surveys, preparing detailed network designs, and ensuring that all telecommunications infrastructure projects—such as fiber optic, copper, or wireless networks—are accurately planned and executed according to client and industry standards. This role works closely with project managers, engineers, and field teams to deliver cost-effective and technically sound designs.

Essential Functions:

1. Conduct field surveys to collect accurate data on site conditions, existing infrastructure, and potential network routes.
2. Prepare detailed network layout designs (FTTx, OSP, ISP, or backbone networks) using CAD or GIS-based tools.
3. Create and update design drawings, fiber plans, as-built documents, and route maps.
4. Evaluate survey results to determine the most efficient and cost-effective network routes.
5. Coordinate with local authorities, clients, and internal teams to obtain necessary permits and approvals.
6. Ensure all designs comply with client specifications (e.g., Globe, PLDT, Smart) and engineering standards.
7. Collaborate with construction teams during project implementation to address design-related issues or changes.
8. Maintain accurate project documentation including survey reports, design files, and revisions.
9. Conduct quality checks on survey and design outputs before submission to the client.
10. Support the preparation of bills of materials (BOM) and project cost estimates based on finalized designs.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electronics and Communications, or Electrical Engineering (or related field).
• At least 2–5 years of experience in telecom survey, design, or OSP/ISP network planning.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, GIS software, and Microsoft Office tools.
• Strong understanding of FTTx, GPON, and OSP/ISP network components.
• Familiarity with telecom standards and practices of major service providers (e.g., Globe, PLDT).
• Excellent analytical, technical drawing, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with field and engineering teams.
