Hotdish is seeking a Food Prep Specialist to ensure ingredients are prepared, dishes are assembled accurately, and delivery packaging meets company standards in a fast-paced kitchen.
You will coordinate with cooks and dispatch staff to maintain food quality, safety, and presentation, while performing basic prep, packaging, and sanitation tasks. The role requires attention to detail, stamina for long shifts, and strong teamwork to keep the line running smoothly.
The Food Prep Specialist ensures ingredients are properly prepared, dishes are accurately assembled, and delivery packaging is completed to company standards. This role works closely with cooks and dispatch staff to guarantee food quality, visual presentation, and safety in a fast-paced kitchen.
Order Assembly & Timing: Coordinate with kitchen and dispatch teams to plan, prep, and assemble orders on time.
Quality Control: Inspect ingredients and finished dishes against presentation and portion standards; reject items that do not pass quality checks.
Food Safety & Storage: Receive raw shipments, store ingredients at proper temperatures, and uphold all food safety codes to prevent contamination.
Basic Food Preparation: Measure, mix, and prepare simple dishes, sauces, desserts, and foundational components for the assembly line.
Packaging & Delivery Prep: Fast-fold, tape, and stack packaging boxes; securely pack food items for final dispatch.
Inventory Monitoring: Track food prep station inventory, monitor shelf lives, and report low stock before items run out.
Sanitation & Maintenance: Keep workstations, equipment, and utensils clean and sanitized; handle trash disposal regularly.
Teamwork & Communication: Follow directions from cooks and dispatch leads to keep line operations running smoothly without bottlenecks.
Physical & Operational Stamina: Perform repetitive manual tasks (standing, lifting, folding) safely over 8-to-10-hour shifts with minimal supervision.
General Support: Perform other job-related duties assigned by management.
Kitchen & Food Prep Expertise: Solid knowledge of ingredient handling, portion control, recipe assembly, and basic commercial kitchen tools/mixers.
Food Safety Standards: Clear understanding of temperature control, hygiene rules, and cross-contamination prevention.
Efficiency under Pressure: Strong multi-tasking skills, physical dexterity, and high stress tolerance during peak service rushes.
