Bernhard Schulte in the Philippines is seeking an experienced Financial Accounting Team Lead to direct a team delivering accounting, financial reporting, and compliance services for an international portfolio of vessels and related entities.

You will supervise accountants, ensure timely month-end close, maintain IFRS compliance, and drive process improvements across the shared services environment while building strong stakeholder relationships.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting or related discipline.
CPA designation is an advantage.
Strong knowledge of IFRS and accounting principles.
Minimum 5 years of accounting experience.
Minimum 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
Experience in financial statement preparation and review.
Exposure to multi-entity accounting.
Experience dealing with international clients and stakeholders.
Knowledge of analytical and automation tools.
Experience managing month-end close and audit engagements.

Responsibilities

Lead, coach, and develop a team of Accountants and Senior Accountants.
Monitor team performance against KPIs and service standards.
Review work deliverables and provide technical guidance and feedback.
Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and career development initiatives.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports.
Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
Ensure timely preparation of financial statements and management reports.
Review balance sheet reconciliations and investigate unusual variances.
Ensure compliance with IFRS, company policies, and reporting requirements.
Coordinate external and statutory audits.
Identify and manage accounting and operational risks.
Drive process enhancement, standardization, and automation initiatives.
Support implementation of new technologies and reporting tools.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and client experience.

Process Improvement & Digitalization

Drive process enhancement, standardization, and automation initiatives.
Support implementation of new technologies and reporting tools.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and client experience.
