Job summary

Action Against Hunger in the Philippines seeks a field-led WASH and Shelter focal point to lead emergency response activities. The role focuses on promoting hygiene, distributing WASH and shelter kits, ensuring water supply, and fostering community involvement to safeguard public health.

You will coordinate with local authorities and partners, organize training for mobilizers, and monitor indicators while maintaining inclusive participation and clear reporting to the Head of Project.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Community Development, Nursing, Public Health, Engineering (Sanitary, Civil), or other relevant fields.
• Mobilization of community issues in WASH and Shelter activities.
• Familiarity with local culture; ability to communicate hygiene matters and safe shelter awareness.
• 1–3 years of experience in community organizing, WASH, and shelter-related work with local government and stakeholders.
• Knowledge of the Emergency Response context.
• Excellent English and Filipino; local dialect is a plus.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
• Experience promoting gender equality is valued.

Responsibilities

• Improve access to WASH services and safeguard public health among affected populations.
• Plan and implement emergency WASH and shelter activities; supervise kit distributions and water provision.
• Coordinate with camps, communities, humanitarian actors, and government staff; daily reporting of field activities.
• Deliver hygiene promotion and safe shelter awareness sessions; mobilize communities and build local task forces.
