Job summary

Platform Outsourcing, Australia’s leading construction BPO, seeks an experienced Electrical Estimator to support Australian apartment projects from its Philippines-based team. You will develop detailed quantity takeoffs and bills of quantities from tender packages, drawings, specifications and addenda, with emphasis on electrical systems including lighting, power, security and EV charging.

Are you an experienced Electrical Estimator with Australian experience? Do you have experience working on multi-storey apartment projects, across electrical components including lighting, power, security, dry fire and EV charging stations?

This could be the perfect role for you!

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join Platform Outsourcing, Australia’s only specialist construction BPO.

Our Client

Our client is a Tier 2 Electrical Contractor based in Sydney who were established ten years ago and has a strong client base within the residential apartment and mixed use space. Their projects typically involve basement car parks, ground floor retail and commercial tenancies, and multiple levels of apartments - anywhere from 100 to 500+ units.

They provide full electrical package works on these projects; their typical scope of works include low voltage power/electrical, lighting, security, dry fire services, tv/data/comms, EV charging stations, switchboards/metering and some minor mechanical scopes.

The Opportunity:

The purpose of this role is to support the Director by preparing detailed and accurate quantity takeoffs and bills of quantities from tender documentation, drawings, specifications and addenda.

The successful candidate will assist with measuring electrical scopes, identifying documentation gaps, preparing marked‑up takeoffs, maintaining tender registers and supporting the team with structured, reliable quantity information for internal budgeting and tender pricing.

There is also a need for this candidate to assist with project admin and QA through the project delivery phase, but only whilst Estimating volumes are low.

Key Responsibilities

• Read and review electrical drawings, specifications and tender documents
• Prepare marked‑up drawings showing measurement areas, assumptions and takeoff references.
• Liaise with suppliers with consultants and prepare RFI’s and RFQ’s to incorporate into the measure and estimate
• Prepare detailed bills of quantities for materials such as cable, lighting, sockets, panels and other materials
• Work with the Director in calculating material, labour, plant/equipment, overhead, and subcontractor costs
• Review variations and additional works once a project is underway
• Material ordering
• Assist with QA through project handover

About you:

To be successful in this Electrical Estimator role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:

• Experience working on Australian based electrical projects - you will need understand electrical standards and building codes in Australia
• Experience working on apartment/multi-residential projects
• Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering

• High level of English language written and oral
• A willingness and ability to assist in project admin and QA in the project delivery phase
• Groundplan experience beneficial
