JOB TITLE: Estimator/ Quantity Surveyor/ Contract Administrator (Onsite)
You will report directly to the Director. As Estimator/ QS/ CA, you are expected to display excellence in technical service, managing engagements and delivering work to meet deadlines. You will be accountable for the service delivery and operational management of the estimating, quantity surveying and contract administration activities.
This role is responsible for the following but not be limited to:
- Interpret and review drawings, tender documents, quantities, and estimates.
- Prepare shop drawings, create Requests for Information (RFI) and Requests for Quotes (RFQ) as required.
- Review tender documentation issued by the client and develop a thorough understanding of the client’s requirements.
- Quantify and prepare mark-up drawings, demonstrating proficiency in estimating software such as PlanSwift, PlusSpecs, SketchUp, Buildertrend, Wunderbuild etc.
- Prepare cost estimates in accordance with the Australian Standard Method of Measurement or the company’s current preferred format.
- Communicate effectively with various subcontractors and liaise with clients.
- Prepare quote proposals, contracts, budgets, and other related documentation.
- Provide support to the Project Manager/Builder overseeing site operations.
- Save and organise both construction and administrative documents received via email.
- Handle invoicing using Xero.
- Manage pre-contract and post-contract administration, variations, and progress claims.
- Track changes to the design and/or construction work and adjusting budget projections accordingly.
- Communicate clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally.
- Attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
- Perform other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
This role’s minimum requirements are as follows:
- Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering/ Architecture.
- Has at least 5 years construction estimating experience either on site or in office for residential, renovation and/or fitout projects (2 years for Australian projects).
- A strong understanding of the residential construction process.
- Ability to liaise with external stakeholders and clients, prioritise and meet deadlines set by the Director.
- Proficient in using any of these estimating software: PlanSwift, Bluebeam, Cubit, etc.
- Proficient in using SketchUp (knowledge of using SketchUp with PlusSpecs is a plus).
- Proficient in using project management tools such as Buildertrend and/or Wunderbuild is a plus.
- Excellent English communication skills – verbal and written.
- Excellent time management skills and possess an ability to multi-task.
- Advance skills in MS Office Excel, Word, etc.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy is essential.
- Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, or autonomously when required.
- Some basic graphic design skills are a bonus.
