About the role
The EHS Engineer will oversee plant facilities engineering operations while concurrently serving as the company's DOLE-Certified Safety Officer and DENR-Accredited Pollution Control Officer (PCO). This role combines professional engineering skills with mandatory occupational health, safety, and environmental compliance. The successful candidate will build, implement, and maintain EHS frameworks to ensure a safe, zero-accident workplace while keeping manufacturing operations fully compliant with Philippine environmental laws.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee plant facilities, machinery maintenance schedules, and technical infrastructure projects to minimize operational downtime.
- Review engineering blueprints, equipment layouts, and technical specifications to evaluate structural integrity and operational efficiency.
- Coordinate with external contractors, vendors, and technicians during equipment installations, facility expansions, or structural modifications.
- Implement preventive maintenance programs for critical factory systems, including electrical lines, boilers, and pressure vessels.
- Track facility energy and water utility efficiency metrics to identify resource-saving and cost-reduction opportunities.
- Serve as the officially designated Safety Officer for the facility, enforcing DOLE, DENR, and local government health and safety protocols.
- Conduct Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Determining Controls (HIRADC) and Job Safety Analyses (JSA) prior to initiating any engineering modifications.
- Lead routine facility safety audits and daily engineering walk-throughs to address unsafe behaviors, electrical hazards, or machinery defects.
- Prepare and submit statutory OSH documentation to DOLE, including Work Accident/Illness Reports and minutes from mandatory Safety Committee meetings.
- Act as the company's officially designated Pollution Control Officer (PCO), ensuring total plant alignment with DENR-EMB frameworks.
About you
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or any related field.
- Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Engineering License is highly preferred.
- Valid Certificate of Completion for the 40-hour Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH) or Construction Occupational Safety and Health (COSH) course from a DOLE-Accredited Training Organization.
- Officially qualified to hold a Safety Officer 2 (SO2) or Safety Officer 3 (SO3) designation under DOLE standards.
- Completion of the 40-hour Basic Pollution Control Officer Training Course conducted by a DENR-EMB Recognized Training Organization to satisfy local PCO accreditation guidelines.
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience working in an engineering capacity (facilities, maintenance, or project management) with a proven track record of handling safety protocols in a manufacturing company.
