Doctor Engagement Associate Manager
The Doctor Engagement Associate Manageris responsible for developing, maintaining, and strengthening positive professional relationships between the hospital and its affiliated, visiting, and prospective physicians. The role serves as a key liaison between doctors and hospital management, ensuring that physicians receive appropriate support, timely communication, and a positive experience throughout their engagement with the organization.
The position works closely with hospital leadership and various departments to address physician concerns, improve doctor experience, support physician recruitment and retention, facilitate engagement activities, and promote alignment between physicians and the hospital's strategic objectives.
II. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Doctor Engagement and Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain strong, professional relationships with affiliated and visiting physicians.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for physician concerns, requests, and feedback.
- Regularly engage with physicians to understand their needs, expectations, and challenges.
- Build trust and promote a collaborative relationship between doctors and hospital management.
- Conduct regular physician rounds, visits, or engagement touchpoints to strengthen relationships.
- Identify opportunities to improve physician satisfaction, engagement, and retention.
B. Physician Experience and Support
- Facilitate the timely resolution of physician concerns and service-related issues by coordinating with appropriate departments.
- Monitor and follow through on physician requests until appropriate resolution is achieved.
- Assist physicians in navigating hospital processes, policies, systems, and services.
- Coordinate with Operations, Nursing, Medical Records, Finance, Billing, Pharmacy, Laboratory, Radiology, and other departments to address physician-related concerns.
- Escalate critical or recurring issues to the appropriate leadership for action.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling physician concerns and sensitive information.
C. Physician Recruitment and Retention
- Support physician recruitment activities by coordinating with prospective doctors and relevant hospital leaders.
- Assist in identifying and developing relationships with potential physician partners and specialists.
- Coordinate physician onboarding and orientation activities.
- Ensure that newly affiliated physicians are properly introduced to hospital systems, processes, policies, and key personnel.
- Support initiatives designed to increase physician retention and strengthen physician affiliation with the hospital.
- Maintain an updated database of affiliated, visiting, and prospective physicians.
D. Physician Engagement Programs and Activities
- Plan, organize, and implement physician engagement activities, meetings, forums, appreciation events, and other programs.
- Develop initiatives that promote collaboration, communication, and partnership between physicians and the hospital.
- Coordinate physician recognition and appreciation programs.
- Gather physician feedback through surveys, meetings, focus groups, and other engagement activities.
- Translate physician feedback into actionable recommendations for management.
E. Communication and Stakeholder Coordination
- Facilitate effective communication between hospital leadership and physicians.
- Disseminate important hospital announcements, policies, programs, and operational updates to physicians.
- Coordinate physician meetings, conferences, town halls, and other communication activities.
- Prepare presentations, reports, minutes, and other documents related to physician engagement.
- Work collaboratively with department heads and key stakeholders to address physician-related operational concerns.
F. Physician Satisfaction and Engagement Monitoring
- Monitor physician satisfaction and engagement indicators.
- Analyze feedback, concerns, and trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and monitor action plans based on physician feedback.
- Track physician engagement initiatives and measure their effectiveness.
- Prepare regular reports and presentations for management regarding physician engagement activities, issues, and outcomes.
G. Policy, Compliance, and Professional Standards
- Ensure physician engagement activities are aligned with hospital policies, standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Promote professional and ethical interactions between physicians, hospital employees, and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate with Medical Affairs and relevant departments regarding physician credentialing, privileging, documentation, and other requirements, as applicable.
- Maintain proper documentation of physician-related concerns, engagements, meetings, and resolutions.
III. LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide guidance and direction to Doctor Engagement staff, coordinators, or assigned team members.
- Monitor team performance and ensure timely completion of assigned activities.
- Coach and develop team members to enhance their communication, relationship-management, and service skills.
- Establish work priorities and ensure effective coordination of doctor engagement activities.
- Promote a culture of professionalism, responsiveness, collaboration, and service excellence.
IV. QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Management, Marketing, Communications, Nursing, or a related field.
- A Master's degree in Healthcare Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline is an advantage.
Experience
- At least 3-5 years of experience in healthcare, hospital operations, physician relations, medical affairs, business development, customer experience, or a related field.
- Experience in physician engagement, stakeholder management, healthcare relationship management, or hospital operations is highly preferred.
- Experience supervising or leading a team is an advantage.
