Position Summary
The Business Development Manager (BDM) will be responsible for driving growth and acquiring new business in the Pharmaceutical, Contract Research Organization (CRO), and Clinical Research Labs segments for the Lab Chemicals division.
This is a customer-facing role requiring strong relationship-building, business acumen, and strategic thinking. The BDM will develop and execute sales plans, identify new business opportunities, convert leads into orders, and collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure sustained business growth across assigned regions.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and execute business growth plans to meet sales targets for lab chemical products in assigned Pharma, CRO, and Clinical Research Lab segments.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities while maintaining and growing existing customer relationships.
- Collaborate with the Product Management and Marketing teams to develop customer-specific solutions and implement promotional campaigns.
- Map assigned territories and identify key prospects through systematic market analysis.
- Prepare and respond to RFPs/RFIs, provide quotations, and manage negotiations either directly or through distributors.
- Work closely with authorized distributors through joint visits and regular reviews to ensure consistent sales delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Stay updated with government investment plans and industry developments to align business strategies with emerging opportunities.
- Maintain accurate customer and sales data in CRM, and submit timely reports (daily calls, weekly plans, monthly performance).
- Monitor competitor activities, gather market intelligence, and provide actionable insights to sales leadership.
- Deliver product presentations, support development projects, and close new business opportunities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (sales, marketing, and product development) to position as a multi-product solutions provider for customers.
Education & Qualifications
- Graduate / Postgraduate in Science (Chemistry specialization preferred).
- MBA in Marketing or related field is an added advantage.
Experience Requirements
- 4–6 years of experience in business development or sales of specialty chemicals.
- Prior experience in Life Sciences / Pharma industry preferred.
