Qualifications
Required
- At least 3 years of experience in rebar detailing, estimating, or a closely related structural or construction role; experience in a fabricator, supplier, general contractor, or subcontractor environment preferred
- Working knowledge of ACI 318 and CRSI standards for reinforcing steel placement and detailing
- Ability to independently read and interpret structural drawings, specifications, and shop drawings
- Proficiency in detailing and estimating software; aSa experience is a strong advantage, with training available for the right candidate
- Strong mathematical and quantity takeoff skills, with the ability to meet deadlines across multiple concurrent bids and projects
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with customers, engineers, and internal production staff
Preferred
- CRSI certification, such as Certified Rebar Placement Inspector or relevant design/detailing certifications, or willingness to pursue certification
- Familiarity with rebar fabrication shop processes, including cutting, bending, epoxy coating, and shop scheduling
- Previous experience with industrial, cryogenic, or other specialty reinforcing projects
Responsibilities
Estimating
- Read and interpret structural drawings, specifications, and project addenda to prepare complete material takeoffs for reinforcing steel and accessories.
- Prepare accurate, competitive bids and proposals using CCR's estimating platform, aSa, applying CRSI standard weights and industry-standard waste factors.
- Track bid due dates, follow up on outstanding proposals, and maintain the sales and pipeline log.
- Review awarded contracts against the original estimate and flag scope, quantity, or pricing discrepancies before work begins.
- Work with the Head of Operations to price change orders, extras, and back-charges.
- Maintain up-to-date pricing for mill bar, epoxy-coated bar, Grade 60/80 material, and accessories.
Detailing
- Produce placing drawings and bar lists from approved contract documents in accordance with ACI/CRSI standards and project specifications.
- Submit shop and placing drawings for engineer approval and manage the request for information (RFI) and resubmittal processes to keep projects on schedule.
- Coordinate bar lists with the plant and production teams to sequence fabrication and delivery around job-site needs.
- Identify and resolve conflicts, congestion, and constructability issues in reinforcing details, including opportunities for mechanical splices in congested applications.
- Maintain organized, accurate job files, including drawings, submittals, RFIs, and revisions, for each active project.
- Support field and plant staff with placement-detail questions as projects progress.
