Job summary

eTap Inc. is seeking a Database Administrator to maintain MySQL and PostgreSQL databases, support ETL/ELT pipelines, and manage Data Lake infrastructure. The role focuses on performance, reliability, security, and scalable data operations across the organization.

You will work on migrations, data integrity, and governance while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a dynamic fintech environment. 2–4 years of relevant experience is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 2–4 years of experience as Database Administrator or Data Engineer.
• Hands-on experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL administration.
• Strong SQL scripting, query optimization, and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines with tools like Apache Airflow, Talend, Python.

Responsibilities

• Database Administration: Manage and maintain MySQL and PostgreSQL databases.
• ETL Pipeline Operations: Design and maintain ETL/ELT workflows; ensure data movement to Data Lake.
• Data Lake Maintenance: Maintain structure, storage, and formats (Parquet, Avro).
• System Monitoring & Performance: Monitor performance; identify bottlenecks; improve reliability.
• Security & Compliance: Manage access controls; implement encryption and audit monitoring.
• Backup & Disaster Recovery: Execute backups; ensure recoverability; participate in DR planning.

What the Database Administrator Looks Forward to Doing Well

As a Database Administrator, you will play a key role in ensuring the stability, security, and performance of our MySQL and PostgreSQL database environments. You will also support the company’s growing Data Lake infrastructure and ETL/ELT processes that enable reliable and efficient data operations across the organization.

Your success will be measured by database uptime, query performance optimization, reliability of data pipelines, data integrity, and the overall efficiency of data storage and retrieval systems.

What You Will Do

Database Administration

• Manage and maintain MySQL and PostgreSQL databases
• Perform database monitoring, tuning, and optimization
• Troubleshoot database issues and ensure high availability of systems
• Support database upgrades, migrations, and maintenance activities

ETL Pipeline Operations

• Design, implement, and maintain ETL/ELT workflows
• Ensure accurate and timely movement of data between systems and the Data Lake
• Troubleshoot and resolve pipeline failures and synchronization issues
• Work with structured and unstructured datasets across multiple platforms

Data Lake Maintenance

• Maintain Data Lake structure, storage organization, and optimization practices
• Support partitioning strategies and efficient file formats such as Parquet and Avro
• Ensure data accessibility, integrity, and scalability for analytics and reporting

System Monitoring & Performance

• Proactively monitor database and pipeline performance
• Identify bottlenecks and implement performance improvements
• Ensure systems remain reliable, stable, and responsive to business needs

Security & Compliance

• Manage database access controls and user permissions
• Implement security best practices including encryption and audit monitoring
• Support compliance with internal controls and data governance standards

Backup & Disaster Recovery

• Execute and validate backup and recovery procedures
• Ensure critical databases and data assets are protected and recoverable
• Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing activities

Who We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• At least 2 to 4 years of experience as a Database Administrator or Data Engineer
• Hands‑on experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL administration
• Strong SQL scripting, query optimization, and troubleshooting skills
• Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines using tools such as Apache Airflow, Talend, Python, or similar technologies
• Understanding of Data Lake concepts and modern data warehousing practices
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• High attention to detail and commitment to system reliability and security
• Experience with AWS Lake Formation, S3, AWS Glue, or Athena
• Familiarity with AWS RDS and Aurora
• Exposure to cloud-based infrastructure and large-scale data environments
