GrowthAssistant is hiring a Data Engineer for a fast-growing beauty brand, building a single BigQuery warehouse and data pipelines that connect Shopify, Amazon, TikTok Shop, and retailer data. You will design schemas, set KPI definitions, and enable AI-friendly access for Claude.

This fully remote role requires 2+ years of data engineering experience, strong SQL/Python, and the ability to work Pacific (PST) hours. Global collaboration and data strategy are central to the role.

The Opportunity

We're hiring a Data Engineer for a fast-growing beauty brand that sells through its own online store, Amazon, TikTok Shop, and more than 13 retail partners. The company's data currently lives in two separate warehouses and is being consolidated into a single BigQuery warehouse that connects directly to Claude, so teams can pull reports and insights automatically instead of downloading files. We're looking for one strong, experienced person to design the right architecture and also build and maintain the pipelines behind it — and over time become the company's go-to data engineer.

What Your Day-to-Day Will Look Like

• Architecture Strategy: Assess the two existing warehouses and propose a consolidated architecture in BigQuery, acting as a strategic thought partner to senior leadership on how the data foundation should grow.
• Data Modeling: Design schemas, naming conventions, and data models, including which tables are the source of truth.
• KPI Definitions & Access Controls: Help finalize and maintain the KPI definitions library so metrics like net sales and CAC are calculated consistently, and set up data rules and access controls so the right people see the right data.
• AI & Claude Readiness: Structure and document the warehouse so Claude and other LLMs can query it accurately, with tables, fields, and definitions clear enough for teams to self-serve reports.
• Retailer Pipeline Migration: Move 13+ retailer data flows into BigQuery without losing data, including messy sources like Excel files and email attachments.
• E-Commerce Consolidation: Consolidate e-commerce data from Shopify, Amazon, and TikTok Shop into the same warehouse, and recommend better ways to bring data in, such as direct integrations instead of manual files.
• Pipeline Maintenance: Monitor pipelines, fix failures, handle schema changes from source systems, and add new pipelines and fields as the business grows.
• Quality & Documentation: Run regular quality checks to catch missing, duplicated, or inconsistent data, and document data sources, schemas, and processes clearly.

What You Bring

• BigQuery Expertise: Deep, hands-on BigQuery experience.
• Data Engineering Experience: 2+ years in data engineering or analytics engineering.
• End-to-End Warehouse Design: You've designed and built at least one data warehouse architecture end to end, not just maintained an existing one.
• Multi-Source Pipelines: Experience building pipelines from multiple retailers and e-commerce platforms, including messy or manual data sources.
• Data Modeling: Strong data modeling and schema design skills, including defining metrics and setting up access controls.
• LLM-Ready Warehouses: Experience making a data warehouse usable by AI tools or LLMs, ideally Claude.
• SQL & Python: Strong SQL, plus Python for scripting and automation.
• E-Commerce & ERP Sources: Experience connecting e-commerce and ERP data sources (Shopify, Amazon, NetSuite).
• Strategic Communication: A strategic thinker who can propose solutions, explain trade-offs, and communicate clearly in English.
• Schedule: Ability to work Pacific (PST) hours.

Bonus Points if:

• You have experience with dbt or another data transformation tool.
• You have experience with data integration tools such as Fivetran or Airbyte.
• You have broader Google Cloud Platform experience.
• You have experience with Alloy, retailer sell-through data, NetSuite, or Klaviyo.
• You have migrated or consolidated multiple warehouses.
• You have connected data to Claude, for example through connectors or MCP.
• You have a background with beauty or consumer brands that sell across many retailers.
