Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, Statistics, or Math.
  • 3–5 years in Consumer and/or SME Lending with focus on Credit Policy or Credit Governance.
  • Experience in policy drafting and governance documentation.
  • Experience in policy communication and implementation across units.
  • Exposure to Basel III/IV and IFRS9 requirements.
  • Strong documentation and policy writing skills.

Responsibilities

Job Description
About the role:

The Credit Policy Officer is responsible for the development, maintenance, implementation, and governance of the Company's Credit Policy and related underwriting standards. The role ensures that credit policies remain aligned with the Company's risk appetite, regulatory requirements, business strategy, and product offerings.

The incumbent supports the review of new credit products, policy enhancements, and underwriting standards, while ensuring that approved policies are properly documented, communicated, and implemented across the organization.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the development, review, and periodic update of the Company's Credit Policy, underwriting guidelines, and related credit governance documents.
  • Ensure that credit policies remain aligned with the Company's Credit Risk Management Framework, Risk Appetite Statement, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Draft new credit policies and amendments arising from new products, process enhancements, or changes in business strategy.
  • Maintain version control and documentation of all approved credit policies and related standards.
  • Coordinate the policy review and approval process with Risk Management, Credit Operations, Business Units, Compliance, Legal, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure approved policy changes are communicated to affected business units and incorporated into operating procedures and system requirements.
  • Maintain a policy review calendar and ensure periodic reviews are completed within the prescribed schedule.
  • Monitor compliance with the Company's policy governance standards.
  • Evaluate policy exceptions and recommend enhancements or updates to strengthen credit governance.
  • Support the development of eligibility criteria, underwriting requirements, approval authorities, and exception management processes for new and existing lending products.
  • Participate in product development initiatives by providing policy and risk governance guidance.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and industry practices affecting credit policies and lending operations.
  • Support internal and external audits relating to credit policies and underwriting governance.
  • Assist in responding to regulatory examinations and management inquiries concerning credit policy matters.
  • Maintain a centralized repository of approved credit policies, underwriting guidelines, and related governance documents.
  • Prepare policy briefing papers, approval memoranda, and presentation materials for Management Committees and the Board, as required.
  • Coordinate the dissemination of approved policy changes and maintain evidence of policy communication and acknowledgment.
  • Conduct or support policy orientation sessions for relevant business units.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, Statistics, or Math gained in a reputable college/university
  • With at least 3 - 5 years relevant work experience in Consumer and/or SME Lending gained in a bank or a financial institution with a focus on Credit Policy or Credit Governance.
  • Previous people management or project leadership experience is preferred.
  • Experience in digital lending and/or scorecard-driven underwriting is an advantage.
  • Must have extensive familiarity with consumer lending’s full credit life cycle from loan origination to collection and recovery.
  • Must have experience and knowledge of BASEL III/IV and IFRS9 requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of credit underwriting principles and lending practices.
  • Experience drafting and maintaining credit policies and procedural documents.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint/Canva.
  • Strong documentation and policy writing skills.
  • Understanding of credit approval processes and delegated authority frameworks.
  • Basic SQL or reporting skills to support policy impact analysis, and familiarity with scorecard-based lending and digital credit assessment is an advantage
Compensation:
  • Starting basic salary – Php 80,000-100,000 negotiable depending on the candidate’s
