Job summary

Virtual Staffing Solutions is seeking a Construction Accounting Associate for an onsite role in Tacloban, Leyte, Eastern Visayas, Philippines. The incumbent will support day-to-day accounting, AP/AR, job costing, invoicing, and project financial reporting.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Accounting and at least 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction, with strong Excel skills and attention to detail.

• Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
• Experience with AP, AR, reconciliations, invoicing, and general ledger activities.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting transactions and maintain accurate financial records.
• Process and monitor Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) transactions.
• Review vendor invoices, purchase orders, receipts, and supporting documentation for accuracy.
• Assist with job costing by properly assigning expenses, labor, materials, and other costs to construction projects.
• Track project expenses against budgets and identify discrepancies or unusual variances.
• Prepare and process customer invoices, progress billings, and related documentation.
• Assist with collections and follow up on outstanding receivables.
• Perform bank, credit card, vendor, and account reconciliations.
• Assist with monthly and year-end closing activities.
• Maintain accurate records of construction contracts, change orders, retainage, deposits, and project-related transactions.
• Support preparation of financial reports, job-cost reports, and project profitability reports.
• Review transactions for proper coding and allocation to the appropriate project, cost category, or general ledger account.

Job Description

The Construction Accounting Specialist is responsible for supporting the financial and accounting operations of a construction company. This role handles day-to-day accounting activities, maintains accurate financial records, and assists with job costing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and project-related financial reporting.

The ideal candidate has strong accounting fundamentals, excellent attention to detail, and preferably experience working with construction accounting processes and systems.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or a related industry.

Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.

Experience with AP, AR, reconciliations, invoicing, and general ledger activities.

Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including basic formulas and data manipulation.
