Work Arrangement
Full-Time
Community management
Own day to day engagement across all active platforms for assigned brands, including comments, mentions, direct messages, tags and reviews
Grow and nurture each community through proactive outreach, not just reactive replies
Identify and build relationships with advocates, superfans and repeat contributors
Seed and sustain conversation in owned spaces such as groups, Discord or forums where relevant
Surface user generated content and route it for approval and reuse
Goals and conversion
Define what each community is for, whether that is advocacy, support, enquiries, retention or referral
Track whether engagement is converting toward that goal rather than stopping at activity
Route qualified interest from comments and direct messages into the client’s enquiry or sales process
Report on what the community is actually contributing to the business, not just how busy it is
Brand and market health
Run social listening across brand mentions, competitor activity and category conversation for each brand
Track sentiment over time and report shifts with context on what caused them
Monitor share of voice against named competitors
Produce a regular brand health summary per brand covering what the audience is saying, what is changing, and what to do about it
Flag emerging risks, recurring complaints and misinformation early
Reporting
Own community and engagement reporting, including engagement rate, response time, follower growth and quality, sentiment and share of voice
Maintain reporting dashboards so numbers are current and comparable week to week
Feed engagement insight into campaign planning with the Social Media Growth Specialist
Contribute the community and sentiment view to post-campaign reviews
Escalation and moderation
Moderate against agreed community guidelines, consistently and fairly, per brand
Follow the escalation path for complaints, reputational risk and crisis moments
Maintain and update response frameworks and approved holding statements for each brand
Document recurring issues and pass them to the relevant team
Multi-brand management
Hold distinct voice, guidelines, escalation path and reporting for each brand
Prioritise across accounts during busy periods and elevate conflicts early
Apply the same response standards to internal channels as to client channels
You are the person in the comments. Not scrolling past them, in them, replying, asking, defusing, and building the kind of relationship that turns a follower into someone who defends the brand unprompted.
You understand that a community is not an audience. An audience watches. A community talks back, and you know how to give them a reason to.
You are genuinely extroverted. Starting conversations with strangers energises you rather than draining you, which matters because that is most of this job.
You hold several brand voices at once. A professional services client and a consumer brand need completely different registers, and you move between them in the same hour without either slipping.
You work to goals. You know what each community is supposed to be doing for the brand, whether that is support deflection, advocacy, enquiries or retention, and you track whether it is happening.
You are good with numbers and honest about them. Sentiment, share of voice, engagement rate, response time and follower quality all mean something specific to you, and you can tell the difference between a spike that matters and one that does not.
You have judgement under pressure. When a thread turns, you know what to answer publicly, what to take to direct messages, what to leave alone, and what to escalate immediately.
You listen to the market properly. You track what people say about the brand, about competitors and about the category, and you surface the pattern before anyone has to ask.
You want to run a team eventually. You take initiative beyond your own accounts and you would rather improve how something works than keep working around it.
As Community Engagement Specialist you own day to day engagement and community health for a portfolio of client brands.
For each brand you manage the conversation across every active channel, grow and nurture the community, track sentiment and share of voice, and produce the brand health reporting. You are also the early warning system, so when something is building in the comments, you see it first.
You will work alongside the Social Media Growth Specialist, who owns strategy, campaigns and growth.
They own what gets posted. You own what happens next, and you feed what you learn back into the next campaign.
This role is built to grow. As the community function expands, the person in it is the natural candidate to lead it.

Only engage when a campaign is running
Have only worked on one brand or in one industry
Default to the same tone regardless of the client

Are uncomfortable flagging that sentiment is falling
Find starting conversations with strangers draining rather than energising
Go quiet when a situation gets difficult
Are looking for part-time, freelance, or project-based work
Plan to hold this alongside another full-time role

Education
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, media, psychology, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience is accepted in place of a degree.

Experience across more than one industry, with examples you can walk through
Demonstrable experience growing an engaged community, with numbers you can talk through
Hands‑on experience with social listening and sentiment tracking
Experience handling negative sentiment, complaints or a live reputational issue

Confident spoken English, able to present findings and recommendations to a client
Outgoing and comfortable initiating conversations with people who have not spoken to the brand before
Able to report honestly when engagement or sentiment is declining
