Deck Department Management & Maintenance
Inventory deck stores, operational spare parts, rope/rigging gear, and initiate purchase requisitions.
Oversee hull, deck machinery, anchor gear, mooring systems, and cargo hold/tank maintenance under the Planned Maintenance System (PMS).
Manage the deck crew (Bosun, Able Seamen, Ordinary Seamen) and schedule daily work assignments, maintenance, rust removal, painting, and seamanship tasks.
Ensure proper care, ventilation, monitoring, and condition reporting of cargo during transit.
Calculate vessel stability, stress parameters (shear forces and bending moments), draft, and trim before and during all cargo operations.
Plan, supervise, and execute all cargo loading, stowage, securing, discharging, and ballast operations in accordance with international safety codes (e.g., IMSBC, IMDG, ISGOTT).
