Job summary

Responsibilities

• Conduct safety tool-box talks before critical work and enforce the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safe working practices.
• Supervise the operation of pollution-prevention equipment, including the Oily Water Separator (OWS), sewage treatment plant, and incinerator.
• Ensure strict compliance with international maritime regulations, including MARPOL, SOLAS, STCW, and the ISM Code.
• Ensure the safe operation and maintenance of steering gear, deck machinery, and emergency generators.
• Monitor fuel oil, lube oil, and cooling water quality; manage fuel transfer, bunkering operations, and fuel treatment systems.
• Oversee routine overhauls, troubleshooting, and repairs of main propulsion engines, auxiliary diesel generators, boilers, purifiers, air compressors, and heat exchangers.
• Serve as the senior watchkeeping engineer during scheduled watches or manage the unmanned machinery space (UMS) watch rotation.
• Manage planned maintenance schedules (PMS) for main engines, generators, boilers, and auxiliary systems.
• Plan, organize, and assign daily work routines for junior engineer officers, Electro-Technical Officers (ETOs), Engine Cadets, and engine ratings (Oilers, Motormen, Fitters).
