Because meals directly impact crew morale during long voyages, the Ship Cook plays a vital role in maintaining high spirits and health onboard.

Reports To: Master (Captain) or Chief Officer / Chief Steward
Supervises: Messman, Second Cook, Galley Utility Crew
Plan balanced, nutritious weekly menus catering to multinational crew dietary needs, religious restrictions, and medical requirements.
Prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner, and night-shift snacks for all officers and crew members daily.
Adjust cooking schedules to align with ship operations, port arrivals, or emergency drills.
Manage store inventory, monitor stock consumption, and calculate required provisions for upcoming voyages.
Submit food order requisitions to the Master/Chief Officer prior to port calls.
Inspect incoming food supplies upon delivery for quality, freshness, quantity, and correct temperature.
