You will receive and prepare samples, verify instruments, and ensure accurate test reporting while supporting QA and product development projects. The ideal candidate has a chemistry-related degree, lab experience, and strong analytical skills.
Coco Harvest Inc. is seeking a CHEMLAB SPECIALIST to join our team in Ozamiz City, Misamis Occidental. This is a full-time position based on-site at our facility. The CHEMLAB SPECIALIST is primarily responsible for performing physicochemical analyses of various samples based on established standard procedures and test methods. Furthermore, they are responsible for submitting test results, maintaining the cleanliness of work spaces, ensuring control of laboratory environment, receiving and preparing samples, performing verification of measuring instruments, updating chemical and equipment inventory, reporting non-conforming incidents requiring corrective actions, and other special technical tasks required as part of laboratory operations.
Perform routine and special physicochemical analyses of raw materials, in-process materials, finished products, retention, experimental, and shelf-life samples in accordance with approved methods and procedures.
Receive, identify, prepare, and analyze samples while ensuring accurate documentation and timely submission of test results.
Conduct sampling and analysis of incoming raw materials and monitor product quality and safety in coordination with Production and QA.
Perform verification, cleaning, calibration checks, and basic maintenance of laboratory instruments and equipment, ensuring records are properly updated.
Maintain the laboratory in a clean, organized, safe, and controlled condition in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), sanitation, safety, and quality standards.
Maintain accurate records of test results, laboratory documents, equipment status, chemical consumption, and other laboratory-related records.
Monitor laboratory chemicals, supplies, and equipment and report shortages, damaged equipment, or maintenance requirements to the Laboratory Supervisor.
Immediately report unsafe conditions, non-conforming results, quality or safety risks, and out-of-specification products, raw materials, packaging, or equipment for appropriate corrective action.
Assist in developing and updating laboratory work instructions, procedures, protocols, analytical methods, and other QA-related documents.
Perform special analyses required for product development, process improvement, buyer requirements, and third-party testing.
Prepare samples for potential buyers, customers, and third-party laboratories as required.
Assist the Laboratory Supervisor in technical laboratory activities and guide Laboratory Assistants in proper laboratory cleaning, maintenance, and good laboratory practices.
Ensure proper safekeeping and maintenance of laboratory records, documents, samples, chemicals, and equipment.
Perform other laboratory-related technical duties and special assignments as required by the Laboratory Supervisor or QA Management.
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
Licensed Chemist (RCh) or Registered Chemical Technician (RCT) is preferred.
Proven experience working in a chemical or analytical laboratory, preferably in a manufacturing, food, or agricultural environment.
Strong knowledge of chemical testing procedures, analytical techniques, laboratory practices, and quality control methodologies.
Proficient in operating laboratory equipment and analytical instruments.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in conducting analyses, documenting results, and preparing reports.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and quality and safety standards.
Proficiency in data analysis; familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) is an advantage.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
Willingness to work in a laboratory/manufacturing plant environment and perform routine and special laboratory analyses as required.
