The Role
The Bar Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the bar, ensuring the delivery of exceptional beverage experiences in line with Mandarin Oriental’s Legendary Quality Experiences. This role supports operational excellence, drives financial performance and fosters a culture of service excellence, professionalism and team engagement. The Bar Supervisor plays a key role in creating memorable guest experiences while upholding the brand’s standards of quality and refined hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Excellence
- Oversee the day‑to‑day operations of the bar, ensuring service standards consistently reflect Mandarin Oriental’s brand values.
- Monitor and enhance guest satisfaction, addressing feedback promptly and professionally.
- Ensure the bar is consistently clean, well‑maintained and fully equipped at all times.
- Maintain the highest standards of beverage quality, preparation and presentation.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, hygiene and fire prevention regulations.
- Conduct regular team briefings to communicate service updates, priorities and guest insights.
- Collaborate closely with Kitchen, Housekeeping, Engineering, Stewarding, Purchasing and Beverage teams to ensure seamless operations.
Financial Performance & Cost Control
- Support the execution of departmental sales and marketing strategies.
- Monitor and control operational costs in line with the approved budget.
- Drive revenue through upselling, promotions and enhanced guest engagement.
- Manage stock levels, requisitions and inventory to optimise profitability.
Guest Experience & Brand Representation
- Deliver a personalised and engaging guest experience reflective of Mandarin Oriental’s standards.
- Build strong guest relationships to encourage loyalty and repeat visits.
- Promote the bar and hotel offerings through product knowledge and service excellence.
- Remain informed of industry trends and competitor offerings to enhance guest experience and positioning.
People Leadership & Development
- Supervise, coach and motivate the bar team to deliver exceptional service.
- Ensure effective scheduling to maintain service standards and operational efficiency.
- Uphold high standards of grooming, discipline and professionalism.
- Conduct performance appraisals and provide ongoing feedback for continuous development.
- Support recruitment, onboarding and training in collaboration with the Food & Beverage and People & Culture teams.
- Foster a positive and collaborative team environment focused on engagement and excellence.
Sales & Marketing Support
- Contribute ideas and initiatives to enhance the bar’s offerings and guest experience.
- Support promotional activities, events and brand‑building efforts.
- Collaborate with leadership to further strengthen the bar’s identity and market presence.
Administration & Compliance
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of reports, schedules and guest feedback documentation.
- Maintain proper control of inventory, requisitions and supplies.
- Attend meetings and adapt to operational requirements as directed by hotel management.
- Ensure full compliance with company policies, procedures and standards.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or degree in Hospitality Management or a related field.
- Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in a supervisory role within a luxury bar or hospitality environment.
- Strong knowledge of beverages, spirits and mixology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a guest‑centric approach.
- Proven leadership ability with a focus on team engagement and development.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to perform in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining composure and professionalism.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and workplace safety standards.
