Job summary

Coins, the pioneer crypto brand in the Philippines, is seeking a Backend Engineer to design and operate Java-based microservices for our payments platform. You’ll work with regional teams, improve reconciliation, and integrate with banks and partners.

You’ll use AI-assisted tools daily, explore AI-powered features, and contribute to reliable, scalable systems while collaborating with Mandarin-speaking stakeholders across regions.

Qualifications

• 1–5 years of backend development experience.
• Hands-on experience with Java (Spring Boot preferred).
• Familiarity with microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Strong interest in AI and using AI tooling in development.
• Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese (spoken and written) and business-level English.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship backend services: design, develop, test, and maintain Java-based microservices for the payments platform.
• Protect user funds: build reconciliation jobs, exception handling, and monitoring for accurate transactions.
• Integrate with partners: banks, local payment methods, card networks, and international partners.
• Use AI-assisted development tools to boost productivity and prototype AI-powered features.
• Improve reliability and performance: troubleshoot, write clean code, and ensure scalable systems.
• Collaborate across teams and regions with product, risk, finance, and compliance, incl. Mandarin-speaking teams.
