Job summary

Makro Philippines (CP Axtra AC Corporation) is seeking an Assistant Manager - Buyer to support category management and sourcing execution for Fresh - Butchery. This role works closely with the Category Manager to execute buying plans, manage supplier relationships, and help shape assortment and pricing decisions as we grow our wholesale footprint in the Philippines.

You will drive category strategy, negotiate with suppliers, monitor margins, ensure food safety, and coordinate with Marketing,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, or related field.
• 4-5 years of experience in buying, category management, or merchandising.
• Experience with meat, poultry, or butchery products is a strong advantage.
• Working knowledge of food safety and quality standards for fresh/perishable categories.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and stakeholder coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the development and execution of category strategy, assortment planning, and pricing for Butchery products.
• Manage supplier sourcing, negotiation, and relationship to help secure favorable commercial terms.
• Monitor trading agreements, promotions, and margin performance, flagging risks and opportunities.
• Analyze sales data and market trends to support category growth opportunities and product mix decisions.
• Ensure products meet freshness, quality, and food safety standards from sourcing through to store shelf.
• Coordinate with Marketing, Store Operations, and Supply Chain to ensure category execution at store level.
