Job summary

Our Clients is seeking an Assistant Manager - Butchery and Egg to support category management and sourcing for the category across stores. You’ll collaborate with the Category Manager to optimize assortment, pricing, and supplier relationships while ensuring freshness and quality.

You will help shape pricing strategies, monitor category performance, and coordinate with Store Operations to maintain product handling and food safety standards from sourcing to shelf.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business/ Food Technology or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in category management, buying, or merchandising for meat, poultry, or eggs.
• Background in Retail, Wholesale, or FMCG is preferred.
• Working knowledge of food safety and quality standards for fresh/perishable products.
• Strong supplier management and commercial negotiation skills.
• Good analytical skills to translate sales data into category decisions.

About the Role

The Assistant Manager - Butchery and Egg supports category management and sourcing execution for the Butchery and Egg category, working closely with the Category Manager to manage supplier relationships, quality standards, and assortment decisions. This role plays an important part in ensuring product freshness, quality, and availability across stores while helping shape pricing and promotional strategy for the category.

In This Role You Are Responsible For

In short, you are responsible for supporting the end-to-end execution of the Butchery and Egg category strategy. This includes monitoring category sales performance, coordinating directly with suppliers for optimal commercial terms, enforcing strict food safety and freshness standards from sourcing to the store shelf, and executing competitive pricing and promotional programs alongside Store Operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Category Management Support: Support the development and execution of category strategy, assortment planning, and pricing for the Butchery and Egg category.
• Performance Monitoring: Track sales performance and market trends to identify actionable growth opportunities within the category.
• Supplier Management: Assist in supplier sourcing, commercial negotiations, and maintaining strong supplier relationships to secure favorable terms.
• Quality & Food Safety: Ensure all products strictly adhere to freshness, quality, and food safety standards from sourcing through to the store shelf.
• Pricing & Promotions: Support the implementation of pricing strategies, run promotional programs, and monitor competitor pricing to maintain market competitiveness.
• Store Execution & Operations Support: Coordinate with Store Operations teams to ensure proper product handling, display and rotation, while supporting store teams with product handling and food safety compliance training.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Food Technology, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience in category management, buying, or merchandising specifically for meat, poultry, or egg products.
• Industry Background: Previous background in Retail, Wholesale, or FMCG is preferred.
• Quality Standards Knowledge: Working knowledge of food safety and quality standards for fresh/perishable product categories.
• Negotiation Skills: Strong supplier management and commercial negotiation skills.
• Analytical Ability: Good analytical skills with the ability to translate raw sales data into actionable category decisions.
• Soft Skills: Excellent organizational, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills.
