Job Summary:
The Assistant Commercial Manager supports the Commercial Manager in overseeing the commercial, contractual, and cost-related aspects of construction and project operations. The role involves cost management, contract administration, client coordination, preparation of commercial documents, and participation in bidding activities to ensure projects remain financially and contractually controlled.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in managing project costs, budgets, and commercial requirements.
Prepare and review cost estimates, quotations, bill of quantities (BOQ), variation orders, progress billings, and payment applications.
Monitor project expenditures, commitments, and cost performance.
Assist in contract administration, including reviewing contract terms, notices, claims, and other contractual documents.
Coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal departments regarding commercial and contractual matters.
Attend and participate in client meetings, project meetings, coordination meetings, and commercial discussions.
Represent the company during client coordination and commercial negotiations, as required.
Assist in preparing and reviewing tender and bidding documents.
Participate in pre-bid meetings, site inspections, bid clarification meetings, and tender presentations.
Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations and assist in preparing competitive bid proposals.
Identify commercial risks, potential variations, and opportunities for cost savings.
Monitor contract compliance and ensure that project documentation is properly maintained.
Prepare regular commercial reports and provide updates to management.
Support the Commercial Manager in resolving project-related commercial and contractual issues.
Perform other duties related to commercial management as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
At least 5 years of experience in quantity surveying, commercial management, contracts, or construction.
Strong knowledge of construction costs, contracts, BOQ, variations, and project billing.
Experience in client coordination, bidding, and contract administration is preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Office; knowledge of Bluebeam, Planswift, AutoCAD, or other estimating software is an advantage.
Strong negotiation, analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
Willing to attend project meetings, site visits, and bidding activities as required.
