Job description

Join our Risk Management Group and play a critical role in supporting informed decision‑making by ensuring the integrity, governance and effective use of data across the organisation. Through your contributions, you will help drive continuous improvement in our data governance framework and control environment, supporting a strong risk culture and enabling better outcomes for our businesses, clients and communities.

We are a global financial services group operating in 30 markets with 57 years of unbroken profitability. At Macquarie, you’re empowered to shape a career that is fulfilling and creates value. You will bring your insights and expertise to the task at hand and feel supported as you make your own kind of impact for a better future.

What role will you play?

Working in collaboration with Data Owners, technology teams and business stakeholders, you will monitor data quality, maintain governance artefacts and oversee data risks and controls. You will be responsible for identifying and investigating data quality rule breaches, raising and managing data issues and incidents through to resolution, and supporting root cause analysis and remediation activities to drive sustainable improvements.

Working closely with Operational Risk Managers, you will help maintain and enhance data‑related controls, proactively identify control gaps, and support the remediation of control breakdowns. You will also assess the impact of data changes arising from system updates and transformations, ensuring that implications to data scope, metadata, lineage and control environments are clearly understood and effectively managed.

In addition, you will contribute to advancing data governance by maintaining comprehensive documentation of data elements, lineage, metadata and data sharing agreements, while partnering with stakeholders to embed consistent governance practices. You will identify opportunities to strengthen data quality, controls and governance frameworks, supporting broader data governance uplift initiatives across the organisation. From an operational perspective, you will monitor data flows and processes to ensure integrity and control effectiveness, manage manual adjustments with appropriate safeguards, and facilitate regular reviews with upstream and downstream stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and alignment.

What You Offer
  • Demonstrated understanding of data management, data governance and data quality principles, with the ability to apply these in a structured and controlled environment
  • Proven experience in data analysis, issue investigation and root cause analysis to support effective problem resolution
  • Familiarity with data lineage, metadata management and control frameworks, with an appreciation for robust governance practices
  • Exposure to enterprise data tools (such as Collibra) or similar platforms is an advantage
  • Prior experience within financial services, risk management or a regulated environment is an advantage
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities, with the ability to interpret complex data and draw meaningful insights
  • High attention to detail and a well‑developed control mindset, with a focus on accuracy and risk awareness
  • Effective stakeholder engagement and communication skills, coupled with the ability to manage competing priorities and demonstrate a proactive, continuous improvement mindset
What We Offer
Benefits

  • 20 weeks’ paid parental leave for primary caregivers along with 12 days of paid transition leave upon return to work and 6 weeks’ paid leave for secondary caregivers

  • 2 days of paid volunteer leave and donation matching
  • Voluntary parental medical insurance plan for married employees
  • Wellbeing benefits, sessions and events to support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing, including a comprehensive medical and life insurance cover
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Program, a robust behavioural health network with counselling and coaching services
  • Access to a wide range of learning and development opportunities, including reimbursement for professional membership or subscription
