The Academic Specialist for MAPEH serves as the subject-matter expert responsible for ensuring the accuracy, relevance, and quality of learning content within the assigned subject or subject group. The role supports and, when assigned, oversees content production activities involving up to 15 content creators, ensuring that outputs are aligned with the national curriculum and established content development standards. The Academic Specialist also applies quality assurance principles and processes to review content, identify gaps or issues, provide subject-specific guidance, and help maintain consistent, high-quality learning materials throughout the production cycle.
This role is under the Content department and reports to the Academic Team Lead.
Can contribute as subject-matter expert for MAPEH across all content creation phases and projects as required. Examples include but are not limited to
Creation of curriculum maps (content development)
Reviewing of video drafts from content expert perspectives (video production)
Contribution to prototyping (content development)
Advising on quality assurance framework for the particular subject
Can be assigned to manage (or partly manage) either the end-to-end mass production, or a phase within mass production for MAPEH, under base content or video projects. Examples include but are not limited to
the end to end base content production of the subject or subject group.
the script and storyboard production for video production of the subject or subject group.
Can be assigned to independently manage at least one small size mass production team (with up to 15 team members each)
Support direct manager or the content manager in production management as assigned.
Take part in the evaluation and hiring of potential content specialists
Acquire a basic understanding of the content development principles and processes
Ensure the subject content design, templates, and prototypes effectively reflect the specific needs of the subject, given other requirements and constraints.
Acquire a basic understanding of the QA/QC principles and processes
Ensure quality of the content produced under MAPEH.
When necessary, may be required by the Content Head or direct manager/supervisor to take on content department ad-adhoc projects or tasks which are outside of standard content development, production or QA QC phases. Examples may include but not limited to partnership building, or developing new content product or service offerings.
In case of downsizing in terms of planned resources, all team members may be asked to take on tasks below their current level, including but not limited to writing and editing of contents.
Carry out other tasks and assignments as assigned by the Content Head or direct manager/supervisor from time to time.
When discussed and agreed with the direct manager, especially but not limited to cases where a career advancement plan is in place, can take on tasks and responsibilities beyond the scope specified here.

Has a bachelor's degree in education with a specialization in the subject matter, MAPEH.
A master’s or doctorate degree is a great advantage
At least 5 years of teaching experience in basic education is an advantage (with 3 years minimum in a F2F setting).
Track record in initiating new things and/or experience in innovative educational settings outside of normal teaching is an advantage (for example: has started an educational youtube, TikTok channels / run an educational community, etc.)
Must not be bound by an active non-compete agreement.
Any education- or publishing-related training
Writing and editing experience in any publishing industry is a must
Has good oral and written communication skills
Familiar with the Chicago Manual of Style or any other style guidelines for writing and editing
Familiar with the DepEd K-12 curriculum, Bloom’s taxonomy, and learning pedagogies
Has wide experience in Google suites (Google Docs, Spreadsheet, Slides) and other online tools.
