Job summary

fonio is seeking a hands-on product designer to shape how the product feels for thousands of businesses. You own core areas end-to-end—from talking to customers to shipping with the engineering team.

You’ll prototype fast with AI tools, build scalable design systems, and measure impact with analytics. Fluency in English is required; German skills are a plus as DACH is a key market.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in product design, portfolio required.
• Exceptional craft: interaction, hierarchy, typography and motion.
• High autonomy; takes ownership with minimal structure.
• Experience with design systems and end-to-end shipping.
• Product and analytics thinking; design with data, not gut.
• AI-first mindset and English fluency (German a plus).

Responsibilities

Your role

You shape how fonio feels to use for thousands of businesses. You own core areas of our product end-to-end: from talking to customers, to designing the flow, to shipping it with our engineers.

You're a hands-on designer with high craft and a lot of autonomy. You don't wait for perfect specs. You find the problem, design the solution and move fast.

What to expect

• Own the design of core product areas end-to-end, in close collaboration with Product Engineering and our founders

• Talk to customers regularly and turn insights into design decisions

• Turn complex functionality into simple and easy to use experiences

• Shape and scale our product design system

• Prototype fast with AI tools (Cursor, v0, Claude and others) to get from idea to testable flow in hours, not weeks

• Use analytics to measure what works, and iterate

Who we're looking for

• At least 5 years of experience in product design, ideally in a small, fast-moving product team (portfolio required)

• Exceptional design craft: interaction detail, hierarchy, typography and motion

• High autonomy: you take ownership without needing much structure

• Experience with design systems and shipping features end-to-end

• Product and analytics thinking: you don't design from your gut, you measure

• AI-first mindset

• Fluent English (any additional language is a plus, especially German (DACH is our most important market)
