Job summary

Khatib & Alami International seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to supervise and ensure the quality of plumbing and utility works within the Smart City project. You will review drawings, material submittals, test plans, and coordinate with civil, electrical, and building services teams.

With 15+ years in construction supervision, you will lead inspections, monitor installations, and ensure compliance with specifications and codes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• Chartered Professional Engineering certification or equivalent is preferred.
• Knowledge of construction supervision services.
• Understanding of international engineering standards and codes.
• Good interpersonal and leadership skills.
• Good planning and organization skills.
• Strong attention to details.
• Proficiency in spoken and written Arabic and English.

Responsibilities

• Ensure responsibilities are fulfilled with a high quality and in a cost-effective manner.
• Support Project Managers with managing client relations and expectations, as needed.
• Support Project Managers with responding to client clarifications on technical and contractual issues, as needed.
• Support Project Managers with organizing inspections by third parties, as needed.
• Ensure client satisfaction with construction supervision services.
• Supervise potable water, domestic water, irrigation, drainage and sewerage installations.
• Monitor underground and above-ground plumbing networks.
• Review plumbing shop drawings, material submittals, calculations and method statements.
• Inspect pipework, valves, chambers, tanks, pumps and associated equipment.
• Monitor installation of water tanks, pump sets and water distribution systems.
• Witness pressure testing, leakage testing, flushing, disinfection and commissioning.
• Coordinate plumbing works with civil, structural, electrical, landscape and building services works.
• Coordinate connections with external utility networks and authorities.
• Review testing and commissioning documentation.
• Monitor compliance with approved specifications and authority requirements.
• Review as-built drawings and handover documentation.
• Identify construction issues and coordinate corrective actions with the Contractor.
• Attend periodic training to further develop relevant skills.

Job description

The Engineer will be responsible for the technical supervision, monitoring, inspection, coordination, and quality control of the Developer/Contractor’s construction activities within the Smart City development. The role involves ensuring that all works are executed in accordance with the approved drawings, specifications, contract requirements, applicable codes and standards, approved method statements, inspection and test plans, project programme, HSE requirements, and the Employer’s/Consultant’s requirements.

• Minimum 10 years of experience in Smart City, infrastructure, large-scale development, or technology-enabled infrastructure projects.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in the Middle East/GCC region is mandatory.
