Job summary

Khatib & Alami International in Muscat is seeking an Electrical Engineer to supervise and inspect construction activities for a Smart City project. You will ensure works comply with drawings, specifications, contract requirements, codes and safety standards.

Responsibilities include coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, witnessing testing and commissioning, reviewing drawings and submittals, and maintaining quality and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Chartered Professional Engineering certification or equivalent preferred.
• Knowledge of construction supervision services.
• Understanding of international engineering standards and codes.
• Good interpersonal and leadership skills.
• Good planning and organization skills.

• Proficiency in spoken and written Arabic and English.

Responsibilities

• Support Project Managers with managing client relations and expectations.
• Respond to client clarifications on technical and contractual issues.
• Organize inspections by third parties.
• Ensure client satisfaction with construction supervision services.
• Supervise MV/LV electrical installations, substations, transformers, switchgear, distribution boards and associated equipment.
• Monitor installation of underground electrical networks, cable routes, ducts, chambers and feeder pillars.
• Supervise street lighting, landscape lighting and external electrical works.
• Review electrical shop drawings, material submittals, calculations and technical submissions.
• Monitor ELV systems, including CCTV, access control, structured cabling and related infrastructure, where applicable.
• Coordinate electrical works with ICT, telecom, security, civil, mechanical and utility infrastructure.
• Witness testing and commissioning of electrical systems.
• Verify cable testing, insulation resistance, continuity, earthing and other relevant tests.
• Monitor earthing and lightning protection systems.
• Coordinate with utility authorities and service providers for power connections and approvals.
• Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, standards and authority requirements.
• Review electrical as-built drawings and handover documentation.
• Attend periodic training to further develop relevant skills.

The Engineer will be responsible for the technical supervision, monitoring, inspection, coordination, and quality control of the Developer/Contractor’s construction activities within the Smart City development. The role involves ensuring that all works are executed in accordance with the approved drawings, specifications, contract requirements, applicable codes and standards, approved method statements, inspection and test plans, project programme, HSE requirements, and the Employer’s/Consultant’s requirements.

• Minimum 10 years of experience in Smart City, infrastructure, large-scale development, or technology-enabled infrastructure projects.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in the Middle East/GCC region is mandatory.
