Job summary

Siemens AG in Oman seeks an experienced commissioning engineer for SCMS and Cybersecurity Systems in the Middle East. Based in Oman, you will configure BCUs, RTUs, and SCMS, and develop new applications with IEC 61850. Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation or related field.
• 3+ years of relevant experience in substations or energy automation.
• Advanced knowledge of substation network topology design with redundancy protocols.
• Practical knowledge of large IEC 61850 networks and SCADA parameterization.
• Experience parameterizing IEC 61850, IEC 101, IEC 104, and related protocols.
• Hands-on experience configuring and testing BCUs, HMIs, and gateways.
• On-site FAT/SAT/commissioning experience.
• Cybersecurity in OT systems knowledge per IEC 62443/IEC 62351.
• Experience in utility or power transmission/distribution environments.
• Strong adaptability and cross-cultural collaboration; English fluency.

Responsibilities

• Configure and test Bay Control Units (BCUs).
• Commission SCMS systems and related cybersecurity for substations.
• Lead FAT/SAT/commissioning activities on-site.
• Configure HMIs, alarms, events, and trends; set up SCMS/RTU integration.
• Develop and test protection and control schemes; prepare SAT procedures.
• Travel to job sites ~75% of the time; support customers and vendors.
• Train customers on SCMS system usage and functionalities.

Key Responsibilities

Your Role International Challenging and Future-Oriented

In this role you will be performing commissioning of SCMS and Cybersecurity Systems in the Middle East based in Oman While being part of the team you will also be involved in the latest solutions on IOT Cyber Security Process Bus etc

General Responsibilities

• Configure and test Bay Control Units
• BCUs
• RTUs PLCs
• SCMS systems
• Develop new application solutions with IEC61850
• Modbus
• Profibus
• IEC 101
• IEC 104 or other communication protocols relevant in the energy automation field
• Design configure conduct FAT and commissioning of Cybersecurity for Substation Automation systems
• Be one of our primary customer interfaces including trouble shooting and commissioning support
• Occasionally assist in developing new order proposals bills of materials clarifying technical comments etc
• Design development implementation testing and commissioning of protection and control applications and schemes
• Prepare SAT Site Acceptance Test procedures
• Configure test and perform commissioning SCMS for retrofit applications
• Travel to job sites customer offices and vendors factories expected to be around 75 of total time
• Perform Training on the SCMS system to customers

Your Qualifications and Skills

• Digital and Solid! Expected degree qualification and/or major: Bachelor s degree in electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation
• Relevant year of experience: 3+ Years
• Knowledge of expertise: Advanced knowledge of substation network topology design; Ring/Star with redundancy protocol RSTP, PRP & HSR etc.
• Practical knowledge of large 61850 network design, Human-Machine Interface / SCADA Parameterization including implementation of Substation Automation and Cyber Security
• Experience in parameterizing communication protocols, IEC61850, IEC 101, IEC 104 etc
• Hands-on experience in Configuring and testing BCUs with logics
• Configuring HMIs with SLDs, Alarms, Events, Trends, etc
• Configuring Gateways to convert various protocols
• Configuring, integration and troubleshooting of numerical devices and meters to SCMS/RTU systems
• Be on site to lead/participate in FAT and/or SAT and/or commissioning as required by the project
• Knowledge of Cybersecurity in OT Systems including configuration/parameterization of Next Gen Firewall IDS Syslog Server RBAC Hardening Awareness of IEC 62443 and IEC 62351 standards
• Any relevant certification: Will be an added Advantage
• Experience in utility or power transmission/distribution environments.

• The following experience is not mandatory; however, candidates who can demonstrate solid knowledge in these areas will be given extra consideration: Knowledge of Siemens relay/automation products and associated software Communication Network Technologies, including Design, Configuration, and troubleshooting Knowledge of ANSI standards, IEC standards. SICAM PAS SICAM SCC/WinCC SICAM A8000 RTU, SICAM 230 SCADA, SICAM AK3, Toolbox II DIGSI 4/5 Logic Building with (CAEx, ST, CFC etc) Knowledge of the multiple vendors' Numerical Relays products and associated software C, VB Programming Language experience.
