About the Role
We are seeking a highly capable Operational Technology (OT) / Industrial Control Systems (ICS) Resident Engineer to provide on-site technical expertise, system support, and cybersecurity oversight for critical industrial environments. This role requires a hands‑on professional with a strong understanding of OT networks, control systems, and cybersecurity principles, capable of bridging the gap between IT and OT operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily operational support for OT and ICs environments, ensuring system availability, stability, and security.
- Manage, monitor, and maintain industrial networks, including switches, firewalls, and communication links between control systems.
- Support incident detection, response, and system recovery activities within the OT network.
- Assist in system patching, configuration management, and change control processes across multiple vendor environments.
- Participate in cybersecurity assessments and deployment of monitoring solutions aligned with frameworks such as IEC62443, NIST, and ISO27019.
- Conduct system performance reviews, vulnerability checks, and provide recommendations for improved operational resilience.
- Maintain technical documentation, configuration records, and OT asset inventories.
- Collaborate closely with IT security, engineering, and operations teams to ensure secure integration of technologies.
Technical Skills & Experience
- 5 years plus of experience supporting OT/ICS environments (e.g., energy, utilities, manufacturing, oil & gas, or critical infrastructure).
- In-depth understanding of IP networking concepts, including OSI and Purdue models, VLANs, routing, and network segmentation.
- Strong familiarity with ICs protocols (Modbus, DNP3, OPC, Profibus, etc.) and control system architectures (SCADA, PLC, DCS).
- Experience working with Linux environments (command-line proficiency), containerized systems (Docker), and automation/scripting languages such as Python or Shell.
- Exposure to SIEM platforms and log management tools for monitoring OT environments.
- Knowledge of industrial vendors and technologies (e.g., Siemens, ABB, Schneider Electric, Honeywell).
- Solid grasp of OT cybersecurity practices including network segmentation, asset visibility, and anomaly detection.
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting abilities, with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
