Job summary
Siemens AG in Oman seeks an experienced commissioning engineer for SCMS and Cybersecurity Systems in the Middle East. Based in Oman, you will configure BCUs, RTUs, and SCMS, and develop new applications with IEC 61850. Qualifications
- Bachelor-level degree in Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation or related field.
- 3+ years of relevant experience in substations or energy automation.
- Advanced knowledge of substation network topology design with redundancy protocols.
- Practical knowledge of large IEC 61850 networks and SCADA parameterization.
- Experience parameterizing IEC 61850, IEC 101, IEC 104, and related protocols.
- Hands-on experience configuring and testing BCUs, HMIs, and gateways.
- On-site FAT/SAT/commissioning experience.
- Cybersecurity in OT systems knowledge per IEC 62443/IEC 62351.
- Experience in utility or power transmission/distribution environments.
- Strong adaptability and cross-cultural collaboration; English fluency.
Responsibilities
- Configure and test Bay Control Units (BCUs).
- Commission SCMS systems and related cybersecurity for substations.
- Lead FAT/SAT/commissioning activities on-site.
- Configure HMIs, alarms, events, and trends; set up SCMS/RTU integration.
- Develop and test protection and control schemes; prepare SAT procedures.
- Travel to job sites ~75% of the time; support customers and vendors.
- Train customers on SCMS system usage and functionalities.
