Job summary

L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering is seeking a skilled NDT RT specialist to interpret radiographic films for welded joints and fabricated components in offshore and heavy industry projects.

You will evaluate weld discontinuities, prepare interpretation reports, maintain inspection records, and coordinate with QA/QC teams, welding inspectors, and production groups to ensure traceability and compliance with relevant standards and HSE policies.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5-8 years of experience in NDT and RT Film Interpretation.
• Experience in Offshore Oil & Gas Modular Fabrication, Shipyard, EPC or Heavy Engineering projects.
• Knowledge of ASME Section V, ASME Section VIII, ASME B31.3, AWS D1.1, API Codes as applicable.
• RT Level II certification per ASNT SNT-TC-1A or ISO 9712; PCN equivalent is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Interpret radiographic films and DR images of welds, piping systems, pressure vessels, and structural components.
• Evaluate radiographs for weld discontinuities including porosity, lack of fusion, cracks, and other defects.
• Prepare RT film interpretation reports and maintain inspection records.
• Coordinate with QA/QC engineers, welding inspectors, and production teams regarding repair and re-inspection requirements.
• Ensure traceability of welds, radiographic films, and inspection reports.
• Participate in client and third-party inspections and assist in MRB and quality dossiers.

Job description

Job Purpose

To perform radiographic film interpretation RTFI activities for welded joints and fabricated components ensuring compliance with project specifications client requirements and applicable international codes and standards The role is responsible for identifying welding discontinuities preparing interpretation reports and supporting quality assurance activities throughout the fabrication process

Key Responsibilities

Interpret radiographic films and digital radiographic images of welds piping systems pressure vessels and structural components Evaluate radiographs for weld discontinuities including Porosity Slag Inclusions Lack of Fusion Lack of Penetration Cracks Undercuts Tungsten Inclusions Miscellaneous weld defects Review radiographs against applicable acceptance criteria Verify film quality density sensitivity and image quality indicators IQI Prepare RT film interpretation reports and maintain inspection records Coordinate with QA QC Engineers Welding Inspectors and Production teams regarding repair and re-inspection requirements Ensure traceability of welds radiographic films and inspection reports Participate in client and third-party inspections Maintain RT film storage indexing and retrieval systems Assist in preparing manufacturing record books MRB and quality dossiers Ensure compliance with HSE requirements related to NDT operations

Educational Qualification

Diploma or Bachelor s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Welding Technology Metallurgy or a related discipline Higher Secondary qualification with extensive RT interpretation experience may also be considered

Certification Requirements

Valid RT Level II Certification as per ASNT SNT-TC-1A ISO 9712 PCN Equivalent internationally recognized certification Additional certifications in UT MT and PT will be an added advantage

Experience

Minimum 5-8 years of experience in NDT and RT Film Interpretation At least 3 years of experience in Offshore Oil amp Gas Modular Fabrication Shipyard EPC or Heavy Engineering projects Experience in interpretation of Structural Steel Welds Piping Welds Pressure Vessels Process Equipment Offshore Modules and Skids Technical Knowledge ASME Section V ASME Section VIII ASME B31 3 AWS D1 1 API Codes as applicable Project Quality Plan PQP Inspection amp Test Plans ITP Offshore fabrication quality requirements
