Job summary

Jing Hau in Khasab, Oman, is seeking a Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in all aspects of kitchen management. You will ensure top-quality dishes with creativity, lead and mentor staff, and uphold food safety standards.

The role requires proven fine-dining experience, strong culinary knowledge, and the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Salary is competitive and based in our upscale restaurant in Khasab.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Sous Chef in a fine dining establishment.
• In-depth knowledge of culinary techniques, ingredients, equipment and procedures.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members.
• Strong communication skills with fluency in English (additional languages are an asset).
• Basic understanding of food cost control measures.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef in menu planning and development, ensuring variety and innovation while considering dietary restrictions and customer preferences.
• Oversee the preparation, cooking, and presentation of all dishes to maintain consistency and high standards.
• Train, mentor, and supervise kitchen staff to ensure efficient operations and adherence to food safety regulations.
• Monitor inventory levels and place orders for ingredients as needed.
• Collaborate with purchasing and service to ensure smooth operations and guest satisfaction.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment at all times.
