Job summary

Trowers & Hamlins in Oman is seeking an experienced associate to join the International Projects, Energy and Infrastructure team. Based in our Oman office, you will work on power and water projects, PPPs, and oil & gas matters, collaborating with colleagues across the region.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 PQE, a law degree from a common law jurisdiction, and fluency in Arabic and English. You will manage complex transactions, draft contracts, and contribute to business development and client

Qualifications

• 3-5 PQE with experience at a reputable firm.
• Excellent academic record with a law degree from a common law jurisdiction.
• Previous experience in the Omani market.
• Proven ability to manage files proactively.
• Willing to travel and assist with marketing and business development.
• Fluent Arabic and English – written and spoken.
• Excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
• Strong organisational skills; manage multiple matters with accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Work with developers and procurers of energy and infrastructure projects in Oman and the GCC.
• Manage large and complex transactions under supervision of partners in Oman and the GCC.
• Review and draft bespoke contracts.
• Analyse contractual positions.
• Support other departments as necessary.
• Build, maintain and develop client relationships.
• Participate in marketing initiatives and client trainings.

Department: International Projects, Energy and Infrastructure

Location: Oman

Description

We are looking for an experienced associate to join our International Projects, Energy and Infrastructure team. Based in our Oman office, you will work on a variety of matters with a primary focus on power and water projects, PPP, infrastructure development and oil & gas work.

We work with a mix of domestic and international clients and the role would also involve working with members of the wider Projects, Energy and Infrastructure team in the region.

Our busy team deals with a broad range of energy and infrastructure work and there are excellent prospects for career development for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

• Working with developers and procurers of energy and infrastructure projects in Oman and elsewhere in the GC
• Managing large and complex transactions under the supervision of partners in Oman and the GC
• Reviewing and drafting bespoke contract
• Analysing contractual positions
• Supporting other departments as necessary

The new recruit will also be responsible for:

• Building, maintaining and developing client relationships.
• Pro-active participation in marketing initiatives.
• Providing key client training seminars and presentations

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• 3-5 PQE lawyer with experience gained at a reputable firm
• Excellent academic record with a law degree, ideally from a common law jurisdiction
• Previous experience in the Omani market

• Willing to travel for meetings around the GCC
