Job summary

Dhofar Global is seeking an Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations in Oman. The role involves maintaining financial records, ensuring VAT compliance, and assisting in month-end and year-end closings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field.
• 1–2 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in Oman.
• Hands-on with GL, AP and AR processes.
• Experience in VAT documentation and VAT return preparation (Oman VAT knowledge preferred).
• Experience with month-end and year-end closing.

Responsibilities

Job description

The Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations in Oman. The role ensures accurate maintenance of financial records, proper documentation of transactions, timely reconciliations, VAT compliance support, and assistance in month-end and year-end closing processes. The position supports the Senior Accountant and management with financial reporting and analysis while ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage day-to-day accounting transactions including receipts, payments and journal entries.
• Maintain accurate general ledger, accounts payable and accounts receivable records.
• Prepare bank, Intercompany, supplier and customer reconciliations and follow up on outstanding items.
• Assist in monthly closing and preparation of financial reports.
• Assist with VAT documentation & return preparation.
• Monitor receivables, payables and ageing reports and coordinate for timely settlement.
• Prepare monthly management reports, schedules and account analysis.
• Support external audits by preparing required schedules and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls and applicable statutory requirements.
• Coordinate with other departments to resolve accounting and financial issues.
• Identify discrepancies and ensure timely correction and closure of outstanding accounting matters.
• Maintain proper documentation and filing of all financial records.
• Support finance activities across multiple group companies where required.
• Manage cash and petty cash.

Academic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field.

Years of Experience

• 1-2 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within Oman.

Nature of Experience

• Hands-on experience in General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), and Accounts Receivable (AR).
• Experience in preparing invoices, payment vouchers, and receipt vouchers.
• Practical experience in bank reconciliations and intercompany reconciliations.
• Experience in VAT documentation and assisting in VAT return preparation (Oman VAT knowledge preferred).
• Exposure to month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Experience in preparing financial reports and supporting financial analysis.
• Experience in maintaining proper financial documentation and record-keeping.

Other Skills / requirement

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
• Familiarity with Oman VAT regulations.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
