Job summary

Aqwat For Trading & Contracting LLC in Oman seeks an experienced Accountant to manage daily financial records and ensure compliance across AP, AR, and GL.

You will prepare invoices, perform bank reconciliations, assist with month-end close, and support Oman VAT documentation. Candidates based in Oman with 3–5 years of relevant experience are preferred.

Strong Excel skills and proficiency with accounting software, plus attention to detail and robust reporting, are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, commerce, or related field.
• 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in Oman.
• Experience in contracting, construction, electrical, or project-based company preferred.
• Strong knowledge of AP, AR, GL, and bank reconciliations.
• Knowledge of Oman VAT and basic taxation preferred.
• Proficient with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good English communication and ability to meet reporting deadlines.
• Omani-based candidates available immediately or on short notice preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate accounting records and transactions.
• Record receipts, payments, journal entries, and daily transactions.
• Handle AP and AR activities.
• Review supplier invoices, POs, and supporting documents before payment processing.
• Prepare customer invoices and maintain billing records.
• Follow up on outstanding receivables and aging reports.
• Perform bank reconciliations and investigate outstanding items.
• Maintain petty cash, employee and supplier advances, reconciliations.
• Monitor and allocate expenses to projects and cost centers.
• Assist Accounting Manager with month-end and year-end closing.
• Prepare account reconciliations, schedules and supporting documents.
• Assist with Oman VAT documentation reconciliation and return preparation.
• Maintain proper filing of invoices, vouchers, receipts, POs, and other records.
• Coordinate with Procurement, HR, Project Engineers, Stores for financial docs.
• Assist in preparing project cost reports and management reports.
• Provide documents for internal and external audits.
• Report outstanding accounting issues to Accounting Manager.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Review supplier invoices purchase orders and supporting documents before payment processing

• Maintain proper filing and documentation of invoices vouchers receipts POs and other accounting records
• Coordinate with Procurement HR Project Engineers Stores and other departments to obtain required financial documentation
• Assist in preparing project cost reports and other management reports
• Provide documents and schedules required for internal and external audits
• Report outstanding accounting issues and discrepancies to the Accounting Manager
• Perform other accounting duties assigned by the Accounting Manager

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.3–5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in Oman.
• Experience in a contracting, construction, electrical, or project-based company is highly preferred.
• Good knowledge of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, and bank reconciliation.
• Knowledge of Oman VAT and basic taxation requirements is preferred.
• Experience in project accounting and cost allocation is an advantage.
• Good knowledge of accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication skills in English.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet reporting deadlines.
• Candidates currently based in Oman and available to join immediately or within a short notice period are preferred.
