Job summary

CablePrice NZ Ltd is seeking a motivated Yardperson for our Nelson Branch. The role supports technicians, maintains a tidy site, and moves heavy vehicles to customer locations. A Class 2 licence is preferable or willingness to obtain one. The position offers 24 hours per week with overtime opportunities in a fast-paced environment.

You will join a busy team, performing site maintenance, equipment loading/unloading, and assist with various workshop tasks while prioritising safety and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Clean machinery and vehicles to a high standard, including yard and workshop areas.
• Load and unload machinery, attachments, freight, and equipment.
• Transport and deliver small plant and equipment to customers and job sites.
• Assist technicians with workshop activities and general operational support.
• Manage the tool store including tracking, repairs and maintenance.
• Coordinate vehicle servicing and compliance requirements (WOF/COF).
• Complete vehicle and plant inspections and assist with safety initiatives.

Job description

The Opportunity:

We are looking for a motivated and hands‑on Yardperson to join our busy Nelson Branch. This is a varied role that plays a vital part in supporting our technicians, assisting with maintaining the cleanliness of our site, grooming machines and vehicles, and moving heavy vehicles from our site to customer locations (a Class 2 driver's licence is preferable, or a willingness to obtain one). The successful candidate will be proactive, safety-focused, and enjoy working in a fast‑paced environment where no two days are the same. This position offers 24 hours per week, with additional overtime available as required, providing flexibility and opportunities for extra earnings.

You'll be responsible for:

• Cleaning machinery and vehicles, yard cleaning, this will include but not limited to water blasting, and keeping the yard and workshop to a tidy standard
• Loading and unloading machinery, attachments, freight, and equipment
• Transporting and delivering small plant and equipment to customers and job sites
• Assisting technicians with workshop activities and general operational support
• Managing the tool store, including tool tracking, repairs, maintenance and continued improvement
• Arranging and coordinating vehicle servicing, WOF, COF, and compliance requirements
• Completing vehicle and plant inspections, including Assura checks
• Assisting with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) initiatives and improvements
• Carrying out general site and yard maintenance duties
