Job summary

Carters Henderson Branch is hiring a Yardperson to load, unload, and stock the yard while delivering friendly service to customers. You will ensure orders are accurate, assist customers with loading materials, and keep the yard clean and safe.

Ideal candidates hold a NZ Class 1 licence, a forklift licence (F Endorsement) with OSH certification, and a strong safety mindset. This is a hands-on role at a busy building supplies yard with 40 hours weekly.

Qualifications

• Valid full Class 1 NZ driver’s licence.
• Forklift licence (F Endorsement) with OSH certification.
• Safety-first attitude, good communication and teamwork.
• Physically fit for manual handling and a materials environment.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a forklift to load, unload trucks and move stock around the yard.
• Pick, pack, and prepare customer orders accurately and efficiently.
• Assist customers with loading timber, building materials, and other products.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well organized yard.
• Conduct routine forklift checks and report any maintenance issues.
• Follow all health and safety procedures on site.
• Support the wider branch team with general duties.

About You

• Current full Class 1 New Zealand Driver's Licence
• Current Forklift Licence (F Endorsement) and OSH Certification with proven operating experience
• A strong safety-first attitude
• Good communication skills and a customer-focused approach
• Ability to work well in a team and take initiative
• Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling
• Previous experience in a building supplies, trade, or warehouse environment is a plus
