Our Christchurch operation is looking for an Yard Supervisor to lead daily yard and warehouse activities. This hands‑on role is responsible for coordinating freight movements, supervising staff, maintaining operational efficiency, and ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements.
The position requires a strong understanding of warehousing, freight handling, inventory management, and customer service. You will be responsible for overseeing the safe loading and unloading of freight, managing yard operations, monitoring stock movements, and ensuring our facilities operate to the highest standards.

Champion Freight is an established and dynamic company with a focus on advanced Warehouse Management Systems, so good computer and IT skills are essential.
Current NZ Class 2 driver licence with a clean driving record, current F endorsement, and experience operating forklifts in a commercial warehousing environment.
Previous experience in a Yard Supervisor, Warehouse Supervisor, senior forklift operator, or similar logistics role, or a motivated individual ready to take the next step into leadership.
Minimum three years' experience within warehousing, freight, transport, or logistics operations
Strong knowledge of warehouse and yard operations
Experience coordinating freight handling, loading and unloading activities
Experience operating heavy materials handling equipment, including high-capacity forklifts and machinery such as 16-tonne and 32-tonne forklifts.
Experience handling oversized, heavy, or bulk cargo.
Proven ability to lead, train, and motivate staff
Excellent understanding of workplace health and safety legislation and best practices
Strong organisational and time management skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Computer literacy with WMS experience
Good customer service and communication skills
Physically fit
Proficient written and spoken English
Current legal right to work in New Zealand
Must pass pre-employment criminal history, drug and alcohol checks
Dangerous Goods endorsement or certification
MPI Accredited Person accreditation
Experience working within an MPI Approved Transitional Facility
First Aid certification
Health and safety qualifications or industry accreditations
Experience with continuous improvement and operational reporting
Experience managing inventory and stock control processes

This is a full-time position. Standard hours are generally between 6:00 am and 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday. Flexibility to work additional paid overtime and occasional split shifts when required is essential.
