Job summary

General Tyres invites applications for a full‑time workshop supervisor in Cromwell, NZ. You will oversee all workshop activity, lead technicians, manage stock, and ensure high safety and quality standards. The role is hands-on and requires strong customer service and problem‑solving skills.

Qualifications

• Solid tyre workshop experience in a commercial service centre or similar.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, schedule and support workshop technicians.
• Oversee tyre fitting, wheel balancing and alignments.
• Ensure all work meets industry standards and safety requirements.
• Manage customer enquiries and updates, resolving issues.
• Monitor stock levels of tires, parts and consumables.
• Enforce health and safety policies and keep the workshop tidy.
• Direct daily workflow and minimise downtime.
• Train and mentor team members.

Employment Type: Full-time, permanent

Hours: Monday– 8:00am–5:00pm; Saturday morning.

We supply, fit and maintain passenger, 4x4, light commercial, truck, agricultural and off-road tires, plus wheels and wheel alignments and balancing. We’re known for solid workmanship, reliable service and looking after our customers and team.

Role Overview

You’ll oversee all workshop activity, lead and schedule the technicians, maintain quality standards, manage stock, and keep customers happy. You’ll be hands‑on, lead by example, and keep the workshop safe, tidy and productive.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise, schedule and support workshop technicians
• Oversee tire fitting, wheel balancing and wheel alignment work
• Ensure all work meets industry standards and safety requirements
• Manage customer enquiries, updates and resolution of issues
• Monitor and maintain tire, parts and consumable stock levels
• Enforce all health and safety policies and keep the workshop tidy and compliant
• Manage daily workflow and minimise downtime
• Train and mentor team members
• Report to the Manager on operations, performance and stock needs
• Step in and work on the floor during busy periods.
