Cromwell General Tyres in Cromwell, NZ, is seeking an experienced workshop supervisor for a 12-18 month contract with our Operations & Maintenance team. You will lead technicians, manage stock, and ensure safety and quality in daily tire-related work.

The role requires hands-on leadership, strong communication, and a calm approach under pressure, with a focus on customer service and efficient workflow.

Hours: Monday– 8:00am–5:00pm; Saturday morning.

About Us: We are a well‑established commercial tyre workshop based in Cromwell. We supply, fit and maintain passenger, 4x4, light commercial, truck, agricultural and off‑road tires, plus wheels and wheel alignments and balancing. We’re known for solid workmanship, reliable service and looking after our customers and team.

Role Overview

You’ll oversee all workshop activity, lead and schedule the technicians, maintain quality standards, manage stock, and keep customers happy. You’ll be hands‑on, lead by example, and keep the workshop safe, tidy and productive.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise, schedule and support workshop technicians
• Oversee tire fitting, wheel balancing and wheel alignment work
• Ensure all work meets industry standards and safety requirements
• Manage customer enquiries, updates and resolution of issues
• Monitor and maintain tire, parts and consumable stock levels
• Enforce all health and safety policies and keep the workshop tidy and compliant
• Manage daily workflow and minimise downtime
• Train and mentor team members
• Report to the Manager on operations, performance and stock needs
• Step in and work on the floor during busy periods.

• Practical knowledge across tyres, wheels, balancing and alignments
• Experience leading or supervising a small team

About the role

We are looking for someone to step into a 12-18 month contract on a temporary basis to support an Operations & Maintenance team.

Role Responsibilities / Duties

• Support contract administration
• Keep records and systems up to date
• Track programmes, milestones and deadlines
• Support procurement and reporting
• Manage customer enquiries
• Provide day‑to‑day team administration
• Identify process improvements
• Follow health and safety requirements

Skills & Experience

• Current clean NZ full driver licence
• Contract admin, scheduling or logistics experience
• Good MS Office and Excel skills
• Strong organisation and communication skills
• Able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
