Job summary

Tradestaff New Zealand is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic in Hastings to service earthmoving equipment, civil construction machinery, trucks, utes, and light commercial vehicles in a busy workshop.

The role is primarily workshop-based with occasional on-site callouts; you’ll perform servicing, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs, aiming for reliability across Hawke's Bay projects.

Immediate start; wage $35–$40 per hour with weekly pay; join a leading Hawke's Bay employer.

Qualifications

• Diesel or heavy automotive trade qualification (or equivalent) is required.
• Experience with earthmoving equipment, civil construction machinery, trucks, utes, or light commercial vehicles preferred.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills across diesel systems.

Responsibilities

• Service, diagnose, and repair earthmoving equipment, civil construction machinery, trucks, utes and light commercial vehicles.
• Carry out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance.
• Diagnose and repair diesel, hydraulic, electrical, steering, braking, and drivetrain faults.
