Job summary

Kinetic Recruitment is seeking a hands‑on Heavy Diesel Technician based in Invercargill to service, repair and diagnose heavy equipment across workshop and field sites.

You'll tackle breakdowns on construction and earthmoving gear, perform scheduled maintenance, and work closely with customers and the workshop team to keep downtime to a minimum. A trade qualification and a full driver’s licence are preferred, along with your own tools.

Qualifications

• Solid experience with construction/earthmoving heavy equipment.
• Strong fault-finding and hydraulics skills.
• Trade qualification preferred; full driver’s licence and own tools.

Job description

This is a hands‑on Heavy DieselTechnician role working across both the workshop and out in the field. You’ll be working on a range of construction and earthmoving equipment, responding to breakdowns, carrying out servicing and repairs, and helping keep customers’ equipment running with minimal downtime.

What you’ll be doing:

• Attending breakdowns and carrying out repairs on‑site
• Fault finding across hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems
• Carrying out scheduled maintenance and workshop repairs
• Working with customers, the workshop and parts team to keep jobs moving
• Completing job reports and paperwork

We’re looking for someone with solid experience working on construction, earthmoving or similar heavy equipment, with good fault‑finding and hydraulics skills. You’ll need to be reliable, organised and comfortable working independently as well as dealing with customers. A trade qualification is preferred, along with a full driver’s licence and your own tools.
