Job summary

Playcentre Aotearoa is seeking a Centre Coordinator in Wellington to work 9.5 hours per week during term time, with sessions on Monday, Thursday and Friday mornings. You will build adult capability, support whānau-led sessions and ensure Playcentre philosophy informs curriculum and safety standards.

We value strong relationship skills, knowledge of Te Whāriki, and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi. NZ residency or valid work visa is required.

Qualifications

• Confident building relationships and guiding centre staff.
• Passion for Playcentre philosophy and empowering whānau.
• Course 3 of the Playcentre Education Diploma or equivalent ECE Qualification Level 4+.
• Confidence using technology to support learning and administration.
• Strong knowledge of Te Whāriki and ECE regulations, commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
• Hold and maintain First Aid certification.
• NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.

Responsibilities

• Developing whānau to be the first and best educators for tamariki by ensuring rich, meaningful, child-led curriculum experiences.
• Role-modelling and supporting the delivery of high quality, whānau-led sessions.
• Providing advice and support to centre whānau focusing on curriculum, adult education and health and safety to support session delivery.
• Ensure sessions meet regulatory and legislative requirements including Health and Safety obligations.
• Recognise the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how they relate to Playcentre and actively engage in promotion of Māori cultural values.
